Morgan Wallen added two new songs to his set list on Thursday evening (May 4) at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, including “98 Braves” and “Cowgirls,” a collaboration with ERNEST.
In the midst of his One Night At A Time World Tour set, the superstar swapped out “Keith Whitley” with “‘98 Braves.”
The set list changed up was well received by fans as “‘98 Braves” is a favorite among his latest album. Written by John Byron, Josh Miller and Travis Wood, the song finds Wallen comparing a relationship to the Atlanta Braves’ 1998 season, where the team won 106 regular-season games but ultimately lost the World Series.
Later in the show, Wallen invited ERNEST to join him for the live debut of “Cowgirls,” a tune that was co-written by Rocky Block, Ashley Gorley, James Maddocks, ERNEST and Ryan Vojtesak.
Following the concert, fans took to social media to share their excitement.
“I’m dead Morgan sang both 98 Braves and Cowgirls last night even though neither were on his original set list 🥰,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
Another fan admitted being quite jealous that they didn’t get the chance to witness the performance. “They got ‘98 Braves’ nope jealously is a disease and I have it,. And ‘Cowgirls’ with ERNEST oh my God I’m beyond jealous.”
Wallen is in the midst of a sold-out, three-show run in Florida. These shows mark his return to the stage following doctor-ordered vocal rest, which forced him to cancel his Mississippi concert and reschedule three additional shows.
New Album, One Thing At A Time
“98 Braves” and “Cowgirls” appear on Morgan Wallen’s third studio album, One Thing At A Time, which arrived on March 3.
One Thing At A Time showcases Wallen’s wide range of musical influences as well as combine his love for country, rock and hip-hop.
The project features 36 tracks, including duets with Eric Church, HARDY and ERNEST. Wallen’s sister Ashlyne also makes an appearance on the project, singing harmonies on the song titled “Outlook.” He also pays tribute to his son, Indigo (Indie) Wilder Wallen, on the project with the tune “Dying Man,” which he often dedicates to Indie during his live concerts.
“This record represents the last few years of my life, the highs and the lows,” Wallen previously shared in a statement. “It also brings together the musical influences that have shaped me as an artist – country, alternative and hip-hop.”
One Night At A Time World Tour
Wallen is currently in the midst of the U.S. leg of his record-breaking One Night At A Time World Tour, which kicked off with two sold-out shows at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in April.
The One Night At A Time World Tour marks Wallen’s first-time ever headlining stadiums across the globe for multiple nights.
Marking one of the largest tours of 2023 so far and the biggest tour of Wallen’s career, the lengthy trek will visit 30 stadiums, plus arenas, amphitheaters and festivals to fans across four countries and two continents.
The North American leg of the trek will wrap up on October 7 at Tacoma Dome in Washington.
The tour, which kicked off in March with shows in New Zealand and Australia, will return overseas this fall with stops in Canada before heading to The O2 in London on Dec. 3.
Produced by Live Nation, the trek will feature support from ERNEST and Bailey Zimmerman on all dates. HARDY and Parker McCollum will also appear on select dates.
In an effort to give back to those in need, Wallen will donate $3 of every ticket sold on the U.S. dates to The Morgan Wallen Foundation. Established in 2021, the foundation benefits causes near and dear to the superstar’s heart, including organizations such as Greater Good Music, Children Are People, the Salvation Army, and the National Museum of African American Music.
To Appear At Several Festivals And The 2023 ACM Awards
Additionally, Morgan Wallen will also perform at several festivals this summer such as Gulf Coast Jam, Carolina Country Music Fest, We Fest, Big Valley Jamboree, YQM Country Fest, and more.
Additionally, Wallen recently earned four nominations at the 2023 ACM Awards, including the coveted Entertainer Of The Year, Male Artist Of The Year, Song Of The Year (“Sand In My Boots”) and Artist-Songwriter Of The Year. The country hitmaker is also set to perform at the awards show.
