Carrie Underwood kicked off her 43-city Denim & Rhinestones Tour at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday (Oct. 15) with a few of her biggest fans in the crowd.
The country superstar’s husband Mike Fisher and their two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, cheered her on from the sold-out audience.
Underwood took to social media a few days after the show to share a clip of an adorable moment that she shared with her sons during the show. In the video, Fisher is seen holding their two boys on his lap as the “Ghost Story” singer soared overhead on a swing as she made her way to the B-stage. Her son, Isaiah, is seen in the clip waving to his famous mother and blowing her kisses, while Jacob was sound asleep on the former NHL player’s lap.
“One was blowing me kisses…one was sleeping soundly,” Underwood wrote on the clip.
The video was captioned, “My sweet boys came to see their mommy’s first show! Jakey caught a few songs, at least, before he drifted off to dream land…”
Fisher also took to his Instagram to share a few photos of the visually-stunning and jaw-dropping moments that took place during his wife’s first show on the Denim & Rhinestones Tour.
“#denimandrhinestonestour is Proud of you @carrieunderwood!” Fisher wrote alongside a series of photos, before adding, “The boys and I were in awe of the show!!”
During a recent interview with TODAY Show, Underwood was asked if her kids realize that she is a world-renowned singer.
“I feel like Isaiah, who’s seven and a half, he’s becoming more aware that it’s not normal,” she explained in the interview. “He’ll go to school, and somebody will be like, ‘I saw your mom on TV last night,’” she explained before adding, “He’s just becoming more aware that his mom does something that’s not normal.”
Underwood also told Extra that her kids will join her on the road on and off for this tour, but that they will remain at home for the most part.
“Well [on] this tour, I think for the most part, they’ll be home,” Underwood told Extra host Alecia Davis. “On the last tour, we set up a playroom in the venues that had, you know, crayons and paint, some toys and things like that. They would kind of have their own little space to get away. On my last tour, my youngest son was three-months-old when we were on the road. So he was just a little nugget, you know?”
The three-time ACM Entertainer of the Year’s headlining set featured a nearly two-hour set that brought her musical catalog to life through an epic production, which was directed by Barry Lather (Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson), and Production Designer Nick Whitehouse/Fireplay (Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé). The production value on this trek is unlike anything fans have ever seen from the Oklahoma native and takes her live concert to the next level with the newly-added aerial displays, pyro, and much more.
Underwood performed several tracks off her Denim & Rhinestones album, including “Garden,” “Crazy Angels,” “Cry Pretty,” and her new single, “Hate My Heart.” She also sang several of her chart-topping hits such as “Good Girl,” “Cowboy Casanova,” and “Before He Cheats” throughout the 24-song set. According to several concertgoers, Underwood’s performance of “Jesus Take The Wheel” and “How Great Thou Art” was truly a spiritual experience.
The country superstar embraces the Denim & Rhinestones lifestyle within her wardrobe, which included a plethora of denim and rhinestones attire as well as a dress and leather ensembles.
During her electrifying concert, she also puts her love for rock music on full display with a cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome To The Jungle.” Underwood also showcased a new talent as she took to a drum kit for an epic drum solo during “Poor Everybody Else” that made for a highlight of her set.
The MUST-SEE Denim & Rhinestones Tour comes in support of Underwood’s latest album, Denim & Rhinestones, which arrived on June 10 via UMG Nashville. The 12-track project includes her latest single “Hate My Heart,” as well as “Ghost Story,” “Crazy Angels,” and more.
Denim & Rhinestones is the follow-up to 2018’s Cry Pretty. Since then, Underwood also released a Christmas album, My Gift, in 2020, and a Gospel album, My Savior, in 2021.
Produced by AEG Presents, the Denim & Rhinestones Tour will take Underwood through 43 cities, and currently runs through March 17 in Seattle, Washington. The tour features support from Jimmie Allen.
“I felt like he made sense,” Underwood explained to Country Countdown USA. “He embodies denim & rhinestones, almost as much as I did.”
Underwood is donating $1 from each ticket sold to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org), which has been helping America’s heroes since 9/11 by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building custom-designed smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. The Foundation is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and aiding the victims of major U.S. disasters.
Carrie Underwood’s next scheduled tour date on the Denim & Rhinestones Tour will take place on Thursday, October 20 in Lexington, Kentucky.
