Mark Chesnutt abruptly ended his concert at the Oxford Performing Arts Center in Oxford, Alabama, after a sudden illness forced him to leave the stage just three songs into the show.
The ’90s country music hitmaker, known for hits like “Too Cold At Home” and “Bubba Shot The Jukebox,” reportedly ended his concert after a three song performance due to sickness.
According to fans in attendance, many initially thought Chesnutt was joking when he cut the performance short, but it quickly became clear that something was wrong when he didn’t return to the stage. Even members of Chesnutt’s band appeared confused by the abrupt ending, according to fans in attendance.
The venue, Oxford Performing Arts Center, issues a “Mark Chesnutt Concert Update,” following the abrupt end to his headlining show at the Alabama venue.
“Due to sudden illness, the artist was unable to complete tonight’s performance. We are hopeful to reschedule the concert and share a new date soon,” the venue’s statement read. “All current ticket holders will be contacted with additional details. Those who are unable to attend the rescheduled performance will have the option to receive a full refund. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Situations like this are extremely rare at the Oxford Performing Arts Center, and we are grateful for the kindness shown by our patrons this evening.” The venue also promised concertgoers that additional information will be “sent directly to ticket holders.”

Following his Oxford concert, Mark Chesnutt cancelled or postponed two additional shows, including Augusta, Georgia (Feb. 13) and Smithfield, North Carolina (Feb. 14). Chesnutt’s concert in North Carolina has already been rescheduled to March 29, while the Georgia show has yet-to-be rescheduled.
According to Chesnutt’s publicist, the “Bubba Shot The Jukebox” singer is battling a sinus infection and that it impacts his vocals, which ultimately led to the mid-show cancellation of his concert.
“Mark has been fighting off a sinus infection. It was affecting his voice and he wasn’t able to continue the show,” Chesnutt’s publicist told Taste Of Country, confirming that his health issues are “nothing major.” The publicist later adding that Chesnutt should be fine to return to the stage very soon. “He should be good to go soon.”
Mark Chesnutt is currently scheduled to return to the stage on February 21 at Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi, as per the tour dates listed on his official website.
