Kane Brown is bringing the heat with his new euphoric track “I Can Feel It.” The song, which dropped on Thursday (Sept. 21), is set to impact Country Radio on Monday, September 25th.
The Song Samples Drum Beats From A Phil Collins’ Hit
“I Can Feel It” finds Brown delivering sultry lyrics over a fast-paced rhythm and country instruments like fiddles, steel, banjo, and guitars. Heavily detailed listeners will recognize a familiar set of drum beats in the opening moments of the tune as it features the beat of Phil Collins’ 1981 super hit, “In The Air Tonight.”
While the song shares its own storyline of a man starting a connection in a bar with a female love interest, Brown serves up the iconic hook from Collins’ smash near the end of the tune.
“I can feel it comin’ in the air tonight / Oh, Lord,” the 29-year-old crooner sings.

Coinciding with the release of his new single, Kane Brown also shared a cinematic music video for the tune that allows his acting prowess to shine.
Directed by Alex Alvga, the video embarks on a storyline where Brown starts as a mechanic, nurturing aspirations of a career as a race car driver and struggling to make ends meet. As the video continues to unfold, viewers witness Brown’s transformation as he readies himself for a race and eventually decides to leave his mechanic job to chase his dreams and make a name for himself in the racing world.
Brown penned “I Can Feel It” alongside Gabe Foust and Jaxson Free. But, due to the staple parts of Collins’ hit, he too has earned a credit on the track.
“It’s a legendary drum fill. And it’s a legendary song. There’s no way I could not do that,” Brown told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 of adding Collins’ name to the list of songwriting credits. “I’m the type of guy that I don’t like to screw anybody over. I feel like good karma is, that’s what’s going to keep you going in life. Even if it was a new guy that was working at a small store nobody knew about, I’d definitely give him writer’s credit. I’m just glad Phil… Phil could have said no, so I’m glad he let me use the song.”
Story Behind The Song: “I Can Feel It”
Kane Brown shared the story behind how his latest track came about, telling the outlet that when he set out to play a headlining set at Stagecoach, he was looking to add a big name to come out on stage with him.
“We were looking for a legendary artist to come out with us. We were talking about Phil Collins, we’re talking about Cher, just random people that nobody would think about,” he shared before adding that the idea to invite Collins out led to even more plans in the writing room.
“We went into the writer’s room in Canada the next day, and we had Phil Collins on our mind. We started writing this song, and it happens every time. I’ll live with a song for months, a year, and then release it as a single. But once Dann Huff got a hold of this, I told him, I was like, “I want it live. I want you to bring it alive as if I’m… Think of me being on the road on tour. I want to be able to hear that when we’re listening to this song,’” he shared. “And he just brought the magic. And I fell in love with it. I was thinking about opening the show with it, but then where do you go [from] there? The energy would be so high.”
Song To Appear On Forthcoming New Album
“I Can Feel It,” which follows Brown’s 10th No. 1 hit, “Bury Me In Georgia,” gives fans a preview of what they can expect from his upcoming yet-to-be-announced new album. Brown shared his plans for the forthcoming project, saying he intends to focus more on keeping fans engaged with energetic tracks.
“I’m trying. I took all the slow songs out of my set, even though you know that’s like my bread and butter is the slow music, but I don’t like to play it on stage. I like to keep the show energized, and keep the fans moving. I don’t want them to go get a beer. That’s what I’m going to focus on for the most part, for this new album,” he shared. “Hopefully, we can get them… It’s definitely tough, but we’re working on it. We got, I think, three so far. I’ve recorded eight songs, but I think that… for sure, I’ve only got three.”
Brown’s newest song follows a recent trend of artists who are incorporating beats and lines from iconic hits. Recently, Dustin Lynch and Jelly Roll dropped a collaboration called “Chevrolet,” which matches the melody of Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away” while Chris Young’s “Young Love & Saturday Nights” borrows riffs from David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel.” Meanwhile, Morgan Wallen’s “Everything I Love” samples The Allman Brothers Band’s “Midnight Rider.”
In The Air Tour
Fans can soon hear Brown’s “I Can Feel It” live as the singer/songwriter has announced the upcoming dates for his In The Air Tour.
The 31-stop trek will feature a lineup of supporting acts, including Tyler Hubbard, Jon Pardi, Chris Young, Bailey Zimmerman, Cole Swindell, Parmalee, LOCASH, and RaeLynn on select dates. Brown’s In The Air Tour begins on March 28 at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The five-time American Music Award-winning artist and current CMA Award nominee will wrap the tour with a series of five massive stadium shows. Among them is a return to the iconic Fenway Park in Boston, where he achieved a historic milestone earlier this year as the first black artist to sell out a headlining show in the venue’s illustrious 100-year history.

The news comes after Brown wrapped his wildly successful Drunk or Dreaming Tour, which included his first headlining arena show at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Brown also wrapped the international leg of the same tour earlier this year, which hit cities including Sydney, London, Amsterdam, and Berlin.
