Chris Young is celebrating good girls who love bad guys with the release of his brand new anthemic song, “Young Love & Saturday Nights.”
The song, which dropped on Friday (July 21) finds Young putting his signature vocals over the familiar and repetitive guitar lick of David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel,” turning the fun-loving tune into an uptempo earworm that’s hard not to want to dance along to.
“Young Love & Saturday Nights”
Written by lauded writers Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, and Josh Thompson, with a credit also going to Bowie, “Young Love & Saturday Nights” is all about young love forming between a girl and a musician at the small-town “hole in the wall” joint where he plays.
Young focuses on all of the reasons a man doesn’t have it all together from a vehicle that doesn’t always run to a radio that needs repairs. But none of those issues seem to matter to the female in the tune as she seems to be head over heels over his bad-boy image and Southern drawl.
“She loves his southern drawl from north of Atlanta / That Silverado he got parked outside / Loves a cranking ’89 Alabama / Kissing for an hour in the parking lot light / Here’s to good girls that can’t keep from falling / For bad boys that their daddies don’t like / Small towns that keep staying small / Here’s to old trucks, young love, and Saturday nights,” Young sings throughout the chorus of the track while a driving drum beat keeps the momentum going.

While Young didn’t help pen “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” he shared that he was hooked on the track upon first listen as he found himself relating heavily to the lyrics.
“When I first heard this song, I immediately connected with the groove and the lyrics with nods to so many things I can personally relate to,” the Multi-Platinum entertainer, 38, shared in a press release. “It made me think back to when I first got started playing country dive bars and it was the same kind of thing.”
“I drove a beat-up truck to and from gigs where I played music hoping the audiences would relate,” he continued. “And if I’m being honest, hoping the girls would like it too.”

A Feel Good Summertime Tune
Young went on to say that he envisions fans listening to the track and finding themselves enjoying “Young Love & Saturday Nights” while driving around in their cars all summer long.
“Young love and Saturday nights are things that just go together and this feels like one of those big summer songs where you just want to roll the windows down, crank up the volume, and just drive around to it,” he said.
Tracked at the newly renovated Sony Music Publishing Studios Nashville, and co-produced by Young with Corey Crowder and Chris DeStefano, “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” marks the first song to be recorded in the updated studio by a major artist.
The tune follows Young’s recently-released single “Looking For You,” which is currently climbing the Billboard Country and Mediabase radio charts, respectively.
