The Voice is gearing up to return to NBC this fall. And the network has officially set a premiere date for Season 24.
Fans should be ready to mark their calendars because they won’t have to wait much longer. It has been announced that the next season of The Voice will debut on Monday, September 25.
Returning to judge another season will be Niall Horan and John Legend, who competed against Blake Shelton and Chance the Rapper last season. Rounding out the cast will be Gwen Stefani, who has coached six times, and Reba McEntire, who will replace Shelton after 12 successful years.
“Calling all fans to the stage! 📣 #TheVoice returns with @reba, @johnlegend , @gwenstefani, and @nialloffical Sept 25th 8/7c on @nbc and streaming on @peacock,” the official Twitter account of The Voice tweeted a photo showcasing the celebrity cast, which also includes longtime host of the reality TV sing off series, Carson Daly.
Blake Shelton Will Not Appear On Season 24 Of The Voice
While the anticipation for the next round of talent coming into the show is high, Season 24 will have quite a different vibe from past seasons. Folks have gotten used to seeing Shelton, 47, turn around in his red chair for over a decade, which means his absence will be noticeable to a lot of people.
Already, Daly has shared that the show has begun filming, noting that he’s now flying solo during necessary preparations leading up to being on camera.
“My first day ever shooting @nbcthevoice without @blakeshelton. We had a ritual of getting hair & makeup together for 23 seasons. I think I’m handling it well. Everything’s fine,” Daly wrote.
The 50-year-old television host, radio personality, producer, and television personality included a selfie, marking day 1 of getting hair and makeup done. In the snapshot he appears to miss Shelton and looks in distress while getting a trim.
Daly and Shelton have been pals throughout The Voice, with both sharing a lengthy tenure on the show. And, while Daly hasn’t announced any wishes to depart from the franchise, he did pay a solid tribute to Shelton on Instagram ahead of the Season 23 finale.
“Today’s just gonna be weird! No other way to put it. For over 12 years, I’ve watched the cowboy do his thing on @nbcthevoice & we have laughed & had fun, literally the entire time,” he wrote. “Thank you buddy! Enjoy your big red chair retirement, you’ve earned it! Now let’s go make a drink! (Bring some ice over from your room, they never gave me any) #OneMoreShow.”
Why Is Blake Shelton Not On The Voice?
Shelton left his role on The Voice on a high note, exiting with nine total wins, making him the winningest coach on the show thus far. However, he didn’t nab the victory last season. Horan claimed the win, marking his first, with pop standout Gina Miles. Team Blake’s Grace West took the runner-up position while D.Smooth from Team Kelly, Sorelle from Team Chance, and Team Blake’s NOIVAS placed third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
Horan’s victory could mean he is the one to beat, as he has not lost a season yet. Stefani has won once during Season 19, while Legend conquered during Season 16. McEntire, who served as Mega Mentor during Season 23, has not won a season. But, she claims she already has a strategy going into The Voice Season 24.
“I am going to have my game plan ready to go, and we’ve all been talking about it, so it’s going to be something brand new The Voice has never seen before,” she told Access Hollywood. “I don’t have competition. You know, we’re smoking. We’re going to be really rocking it.”
Earlier this year, the country legend announced she’d be taking up a red chair on the show on Instagram, writing, “There’s a new Coach in town! See you all this Fall! #TheVoice.”
The Voice returns Monday (Sept. 25) at 8PM ET/7PM CT and will air on Mondays and Tuesdays. The show will also be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
