Kane Brown unveiled a “sneak preview” of an unreleased new song that explores the depths of depression and the haunting thoughts that often accompany it. On Wednesday evening (Jan. 10), the country superstar shared a vulnerable snippet of an upcoming track, possibly titled “Haunted,” offering fans a glimpse into what’s to come on his forthcoming new album, which has yet-to-be announced.
Listen To Kane Brown’s vulnerable Unreleased New Song Below
“Sneak preview of a heavy song about depression and horrible thoughts and feelings that I feel like a lot of us go through but don’t like to talk about with other people. If you relate to the song at all, just know you’re not alone, and I love you, ❤️” Brown captioned the clip he shared on Instagram from the recording studio.
The audio work tape opens with Brown detailing some of his inner struggles through the song’s poignant lyrics. As he sings about waking up in cold sweats and the trappings of success, Brown reveals a sense of isolation despite his fame and the accomplishments that he achieves along the way. He continues to sing that despite being a “superstar,” he also often experiences moments of loneliness, where he feels like a “ghost.” He also reminds listeners that they are not alone, as mental health is a challenge that even celebrities and famous musicians struggle with at times, even though they appear to have it all.
“Waking up in cold sweats/ California king bed/ got the diamond ring set/ shoes that ain’t released yet/ Maserati sports car/ singing songs that everybody knows on the guitar/ they say that I’m a superstar/ oh, I still got this feeling in my bones/ happens every time that I’m alone/ part of me is feelin’ like a ghost/ ’cause I’m haunted,” Brown sings in the opening verse of the desolate tune.
The Song Finds Brown Wanting To Escape His Inner Demons
The chorus further highlights the haunting aspects of Brown’s inner thoughts. “Haunted by the voice in my head, haunted by the taste of that lead, I wanted too many times to jump off of the edge, thinking I was better off dead, I’m haunted only every other night, I’m haunted, and I wish I knew why, I wanted too many times to be gone by the mornin, if I’m honest, yea I’m haunted,” Brown sings on the chorus of the goosebumps-inducing track.
Listeners are destined to resonate with the raw and honest tune that shows fans a different side of Brown, who is best known for upbeat hits such as “Lose It,” “One Mississippi,” “Bury Me In Georgia,” “Like I Love Country Music,” “I Can Feel It,” “What Ifs” as well as the chart-topping anthem, “Thank God” featuring his wife Katelyn Brown, and ballads like “Heaven,” “For My Daughter,” “Homesick,” “Worship You,” and more.

Previously Opened Up About His Struggles With Depression With “Memory”
This isn’t the first time Kane Brown has opened up about his struggles with depression. In July 2021, the chart-topping singer/songwriter released “Memory,” a collaboration with Blackbear, that challenges the stigma that surrounds depression and anxiety. Written by Brown alongside Matthew Musto (blackbear), Andrew Goldstein, Joe Kirkland and Ernest, “Memory” finds the hitmakers singing about living in the moment and escaping from any pains that life throws at you along the way.
“I wanna live life fast, I don’t know how to slow down/ I wanna get high, I don’t know how to come down/ Help me now, I’m on runnin’ on empty/ And I don’t wanna be a memory/ Live life fast, I don’t know how to slow down/ I wanna get high, I don’t know how to come down/ Help me now, I’m on runnin’ on empty/ And I don’t wanna be a memory,” the pair sang on the chorus of the song, which was produced by Andrew Goldstein and blackbear.
Forthcoming New Album In The Works
The unreleased new song, presumably titled “Haunted,” will likely appear on his forthcoming new project, which will mark his fourth studio album. During a recent interview with Pure Country, he opened up about what fans can expect from his new album.
“I’m really excited,” he told the outlet ahead of his performance at LASSO Montréal in Canada. “We usually have a huge variety. I usually have pop stuff on there, but so far this album has just been pop country, and then we have some really traditional country songs.” He also revealed that the album includes a song that was on hold for George Strait before “The King of Country Music” passed on it. “I’m really excited for that one,” Brown shared.
The album will follow his 2022 project, Different Man, which features the chart-topping hits “One Mississippi,” “Like I Love Country Music,” “Grand,” “Bury Me In Georgia” and “Thank God” featuring his wife, Katelyn Brown.

Will Kane Brown Release Another Duet With His Wife Katelyn On The New Album?
Brown’s unreleased new album is also expected to feature a new collab with his wife, as he previously teased an unreleased duet titled “Even Death Won’t Do Us Apart.” Just days before their fifth wedding anniversary in October 2023, Brown sent fans into a frenzy when he released a snippet of the new song’s demo. “Even death won’t do us apart (Demo) ❤️ with @katelynbrown 🔥 so excited we got us anothern!!!!” Brown captioned the work tape at the time, which has since been deleted.
“A love like this will live on I know/ So even on the day that he calls me home/ no I won’t be far/ Even death won’t do us apart/ I’m taking every day that forever will give, in this life and the life after this/ hang a hat on your heart/ Even death won’t do us apart,” the power couple sing on the tune’s chorus.
