Jason Aldean is stepping into new territory with his next release, teaming up with wife Brittany Aldean for their first-ever recorded duet, “Easier Gone,” which will be included on his upcoming project, Songs About Us.
During a cover story discussion with Nashville Lifestyles, the 48-year-old country superstar shared why he didn’t rush into recording music with his wife and instead waited until the right song and timing came along. “Britt and I have been wanting to do something together for a while, but it’s like with anything, I just think it has to be the right song,” Aldean explained to the outlet. “It has to be the right timing.”

That moment finally arrived with “Easier Gone,” a song written by Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady A alongside Jimmy Robbins and Josh Kerr. Jason Aldean said the track grabbed his attention right away and felt special from the moment he heard it. He also praised Kelley’s vocal ability, joking that the Lady A frontman is capable of turning even the simplest words into a captivating performance.
Although Brittany Aldean once competed on American Idol, she isn’t a professional singer. That being said, Jason Aldean explained that he wanted to wait for the right moment to invite his wife Brittany to sing on a track with him. “She was nervous,” Aldean admitted. “Day one was just learning the process. Day two was magic.”

The Georgia native and ACM Artist of the Decade also detailed his wife’s first time in the recording studio. “She started to get nervous and sweaty,” Aldean continued. “It was weird because she’s never been to the studio or tried to cut a record or anything like that. The first day was her learning how it all goes. Then she went back in, knew what to expect, and just killed it.”
Aldean emphasized that he wouldn’t have asked Brittany to join him unless he was confident the song was truly right for her. “I’m not going to put her in a position where it’s not good,” he added. “I told her, ‘If I tell you it’s good, you can trust me.’ And it turned out amazing. I’m excited for people to hear it.”

“Easier Gone” marks the first official duet between the husband-and-wife duo, and will arrive on Friday (Jan. 9) along with two other new songs (“Her Favorite Color” and “What’s A Little Heartache”) from Aldean’s forthcoming album, Songs About Us. Produced by Michael Knox, Songs About Us will feature 20 tracks and arrive on April 24 via Broken Bow Records. In addition to a duet with his wife, the project will also include collaborations with Luke Bryan and “Dust On The Bottle” hitmaker David Lee Murphy.
“It means the world when one of my songs helps someone through a hard time—or celebrates their best moments,” Aldean shared in a statement. “This album is about all of that—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Every track started with a real story or feeling, and together we turned those experiences into music. In the end, I realized this album is about all of us. These are songs about us.”

A first taste of what’s next arrives on January 20, as Jason Aldean headlines Nashville Lifestyles’ Music in the City at Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar, giving fans an early chance to experience the new chapter live. Tickets are on sale now HERE.
