Gabby Barrett is giving fans a taste of her forthcoming new album, Chapter & Verse, with the release of “You’re My Texas,” a tune she co-wrote with country superstar Miranda Lambert. On Friday (Jan. 5), the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native dropped the new song and announced the track list and launched pre-orders for her upcoming sophomore album.

“You’re My Texas” is a heartfelt song co-written by Barrett alongside Miranda Lambert and Hillary Lindsey. The tune finds Barrett comparing her love for her Texan husband, Cade Foehner, with her newfound admiration for The Lonestar State, which she now proudly calls home and is the birthplace of Foehner.

“You’re my home away from home/ You’re blue bonnets growin’ wild/ Boy, no matter where I roam/ You’re my Nacogdoches sky/ Where I hang my hat when I get restless/ You’re my Texas,” Barrett sings on the tune’s chorus.

The “I Hope” Singer Details Working With Miranda Lambert

The soon-to-be mother of three previously discussed collaborating with Miranda Lambert to pen the track. In an interview with Audacy’s Katie & Company, Barrett shared, “I wrote another song on the album that was written with Miranda Lambert. That’s very fun. And there are so many people in the Nashville community that I haven’t gotten to write with that I did this time around. So there’s just a lot to look forward to.”

“Miranda’s awesome. She’s just super laid back and just so chill and nice to be around and very real of a person, which is really nice to see in the industry, especially as a female being very real and not about the drama and the jealousy and this and that,” she added at the time during a Q&A with fans on Instagram. “So, the song is more of a slower song, and it will be about Texas. That’s all I can say.”

Gabby Barrett’s New Album, Chapter & Verse

“You’re My Texas” follows the release of “Growin’ Up Raising You,” a song that details the realities of navigating motherhood as a young parent, “Cowboy Back,” which serves as an ode to her husband, as well as her current single, “Glory Days,” a tune that finds the powerhouse vocalist reflecting on the importance of living in the moment and encouraging listeners to never take the little things for granted.

All three of these songs are set to appear on Barrett’s second studio album, Chapter & Verse, out on February 2, 2024, via Warner Music Nashville. The 14-track project was co-produced by Barrett alongside Ross Copperman and will dive deeper into her experience as a wife, mother, and more. The title, Chapter & Verse, alludes to the sections and passages found in each book of the Bible, mirroring the ongoing chapters in her marriage, family, career, and the broader narrative of her life journey.

“I’m way more intentionally connected to these songs than my first album, I would say. Every song moves me in a certain way, and it’s just me grown up. The past years that I’ve lived, I’ve lived a lot of years in a short amount of time. It’s grown up, it’s fresh, and I’m hoping people really can resonate with it,” she recently told Entertainment Tonight.

Barrett’s Project Will Also Feature A Song Written By Luke Combs

In addition to releasing a song co-written with Lambert, Chapter & Verse will also include a song, titled “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” written by Luke Combs.

“I’m a big fan of his. He pitched me a song not too long ago,” Gabby Barrett previously explained while co-hosting Country Countdown USA alongside Lon Helton. “As soon as I heard it, I was like it really strikes a chord with me. I’m definitely gonna put it on my next album, coming out later this year. He was very adamant about the song and me recording it. I think it’s an awesome song.”
