Ella Langley just released her newest song, and it’s not what fans may have expected. The track called “Never Met Anyone Like You” featuring HARDY arrived on Friday (June 27) and serves as the first chapter of new music from the Multi-platinum, award-winning singer/songwriter following the release of her 2024 project Hungover as well as its deluxe edition, Still Hungover.

Written alongside country/rocker HARDY and lauded tunesmith Jordan Schmidt — who also produced the track —  “Never Met Anyone Like You” finds Langley lyrically slowly pulling back the curtain of what unraveled during a relationship. Listeners are first led to believe she is swooning over a love interest that has all of her friends talking, adding “They’ve never been like this before.”

I’ve never met anyone like you/ Darling, you’re one in a million/ God couldn’t do it again if/ He tried to,” Langley sings throughout the chorus of the track. “I’ve never met anyone, never met anyone like you/ Like you.

Fans don’t get the truth just yet. But after the second chorus, they don’t have to decode the message any further as Langley puts it all out there, singing of a woman scorned.

Cause you said it was us till the end/ Then you went and hooked up with my friend/ And you blamed it on me/ Left me crying in pieces/ Damn, what a piece of I’ve never met anyone like you/ I’ve never met anyone like you,” Langley unveils the truth of her romance gone wrong during the bridge. The song is reminiscent of HARDY’s the mockingbird & THE CROW era, starting as a slow country ballad before exploding into a heavy rock anthem by the end.

The tune undoubtedly aligns with Langley’s ability to capture listeners through emotive, broken-hearted lyrics, just as she has with songs like “weren’t for the wind” and “hungover.” Sonically, “Never Met Anyone Like You” mostly features Langley’s stunning soft vocals over a slapping acoustic rhythm. HARDY adds some soothing low harmonies at select parts of the song for good measure. But the highlight is the epic build during the final minute of the track, which has Langley soaring vocally over a thrashing rock-tinged melody — a moment that shows HARDY’s hand in the making of the track as it showcases his signature rock aesthetic.

“This is one of my favorite songs I’ve been a part of in a really long time. I love the craft of songwriting, so anytime that we get to have a twist at the end of the song, it’s my favorite thing in the world. It was a write that wasn’t even supposed to happen, which is a beautiful thing,” HARDY shared of his contribution to the track in a press release. “We were caught off guard by our own creativity. Everybody in the room crushed it that day. I can’t wait to see people‘s reactions because I really do think it’s one of the coolest songs I’ve been a part of. I’m excited for it!”

Leading up to the “Never Met Anyone Like You” release, Langley teased the song on social media, making the track appear as a love song. However, upon dropping the tune, she confirmed via Instagram: “This isn’t a love song.” With the full recording, it’s clear Langley saved the surprise ending.

This isn’t the first time Ella Langley and HARDY joined forces. In fact, Langley surprised fans during HARDY’s Grand Ole Opry debut in April of 2025 and performed “Wait In The Truck” alongside the genre-bending superstar.
