Carly Pearce and Riley Green have proven that some things are simply meant to happen in the studio. The two are about to take over the radio waves as their vocal chemistry is pure magic, making their brand new duet “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay one that’s impossible to ignore.

Out today, Friday, March 13, this slow-burning ballad puts two of country music’s brightest voices front and center for a song that feels both timeless and modern. With its tender, sultry melody and intoxicating lyrics, “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay is poised to become a fan-favorite among listeners and a strong contender for major country music awards.

Co-produced by Pearce alongside Ben West, “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” offers a steady waltz backed by acoustic guitars, as slide guitar and vibrant violins fill in spaces, providing a warmth to the melody.

From the very first note, listeners are drawn into a story of irresistible attraction. Pearce and Green trade verses on lyrics that explore the tension between two people deeply drawn to one another, and unable to resist the pull of their connection, even when they know it could spiral out of control.

If I don’t leave I’m gonna stay / If we don’t stop we’re gonna start all over again / And, if I bend I’m gonna break / We’re gonna blame it on the rain or on the wine / We’re gettin’ close to losing clothes / It’s gettin’ late / If I don’t leave I’m gonna stay,” they sings, showcasing their voices interweaving in perfect harmony, bringing the song’s passionate narrative to life.

Sonically, “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” fits comfortably within the traditional country landscape with its slow pace and heartfelt lyrics, while its polished production gives it a modern radio-ready edge. It’s the kind of duet that appeals to longtime country fans and new listeners alike.

Before its official release, Pearce wiped her Instagram clean, making it clear she was ready for a new musical era. She began dropping cryptic teasers of the song, building up anticipation for the surprise collaboration. In one clip, Pearce captioned one clip simply, “Baby isn’t doing this, the definition of insane.” That teaser featured Green staring intently into her eyes and placing a lock of her hair behind her ear before the two leaned toward each other.

Each teaser set the scene for the official music video, which debuted alongside the audio of the track. Directed by West Edwards, this clip stars Pearce and Green showcasing a cinematic, late-night intimacy. Throughout the smoldering video, the pair can be seen exchanging intimate glances and dancing in a quiet room. With tender touches and a gentle push-and-pull from both sides, a noticeable slow-burning temptation builds, leaving the story remaining deliberately unresolved at the end. Despite the steamy vibe of the song and its visuals, Pearce and Green are not romantically involved; they’re label mates.

Pearce is currently in a relationship, and this duet marks the pair’s first official collaboration. Green, meanwhile, has a strong track record with female duets, including his hits with Ella Langley on “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do.”

“Collaborating with artists I’m a fan of is one of my favorite things to do,” Pearce shared via a press release. “I’ve been a fan of Riley’s for so long and knew if we could find the right moment, it would be special. ‘If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay’ is the perfect moment for us!”

“I’ve been a huge fan of Carly and her voice for a long time, so it was cool to get the text from her about this song,” Green added. “The harmonies were unique, and there was something really different about it. I’m glad she thought of me for this song, it’s awesome to get to do something together.”
