Blake Shelton released the acoustic rendition of his latest single “Minimum Wage.”
On Friday, March 12, the country superstar shared the new version of the popular track.

The track was co-written by Nicolle Galyon, Corey Crowder and Jesse Frasure and builds on the foundation that love is priceless.
“I heard ‘Minimum Wage’ over a year ago and connected with it immediately,” Shelton explained. “It’s the timeless truth that you don’t need a lot of money or possessions, you just need love.”
“I relate so much to the lyrics of this song. I have a lot of great memories playing dive bars in Nashville and then driving back to Oklahoma to play a gig,” Shelton added. “I gravitate toward songs that feel like the stories of where I’ve been and where I am currently in my life, and I’ve got a lot of happiness in joy in my life these days.”
Shelton first surprised fans with the brand new single during NBC’s New Year’s Eve special. On the special, the superstar gave a first listen of the new song and shared the music video.
Following the first listen of the new song on the special, the song sparked outrage from fans that said he is “tone deaf” and he shouldn’t be singing about minimum wage without having experienced it first hand. That backlash then prompted Brooks & Dunn singer Ronnie Dunn to defend Shelton sharing his “two cents” on the situation, which you can read more about HERE.
“Minimum Wage” is the lead single to the superstar’s yet-to-be announce new album and follows Shelton’s back-to-back chart-topping duets with his soon-to-be wife, Gwen Stefani, including “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.”
