Blake Shelton wants to keep making music with his wife, No Doubt singer, Gwen Stefani.

When asked if the pair would ever release a duets’ album together during a recent red-carpet event for The Voice’s live shows, Shelton said “hell yes.”

Upon hearing her husband’s answer, Stefani began to smile and clap, responding, “I was waiting to hear what he was going to say.”

“Yes, we’re going to [release a duets’ album],” Shelton reiterated, adding, “any day now, it’s coming out.”

It’s also not the first time the “No Body” singer has entertained the idea of collaborating on a duets’ album with his wife.

During a 2020 interview on The Bobby Bones Show, Shelton spoke with the country music radio host about the possibility of releasing a duets’ album with his then-girlfriend, Stefani.

Initially, Shelton answered “I don’t think so,” when asked but he soon changed his tune, saying a duets’ album might be released down the line.

“Maybe at the end of 10 or 20 years here, we’ll have enough duets together that we can put ’em all together as a hits package. I don’t know,” Shelton said.

At the time, the couple had just released their duet, “Happy Anywhere,” a follow-up from their earlier collaboration, “Nobody But You.” Besides these tracks, the pair have also teamed up on “Go Ahead And Break My Heart” (which appeared on Shelton’s 2016 album, If I’m Honest) and “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” (from Stefani’s 2017 album of the same name).

And although the pair haven’t released a duets’ album yet, Stefani already knows one song she’d like to sing with her country superstar husband.

Stefani revealed she’d like to team up with Shelton on Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton’s iconic duet, “Islands in the Stream,” according to TODAY.

“That song would be my dream, if me and Blake could do that song together one day,” Stefani admitted following a recent Voice audition where husband and wife duo, Derek and Katelyn Drye performed the duet and snagged a coveted spot in the NBC singing competition.

Stefani might have to wait a bit longer to join forces on Rogers and Parton’s song with her husband, Shelton, but the pair did recently perform another duet at a special event.

Stefani and Shelton appeared at the Christmas In Rockefeller Center tree lighting event in New York City on Nov. 30. The couple performed their duet, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” with Shelton sporting a red plaid shirt and blue jeans and Stefani wearing a sparkly green dress.

Their music careers and plans for a duet album aside, the couple has opened up about Shelton’s choice to leave NBC’s The Voice after next season and how it’s impacted them.

“It’s just been a really amazing season, too short,” Stefani shared, getting emotional, according to Billboard. “It’s mine and Blake’s last season… I can’t even get the words out of my mouth ’cause it sucks.”

“I never in my lifetime would’ve pictured me doing something like this, and it’s been one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. I love being a coach, I love watching the contestants grow, I love having an impact, it’s super inspiring for me. And then, on top of it, I meet my best friend here, that’s gonna be forever mine,” she added.

Shelton revealed that he made the decision to leave the show in order to spend more time with family, namely his three step-sons, Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 8.

“They’ve taught me something about myself that I never knew: I’m more than just a country singer or a goofy guy. I’m someone they actually lean on, and that’s not a responsibility that I ever had and not something that I ever considered even being into,” Shelton said.

Shelton and Stefani celebrated one year of marriage this past July.
