It’s believed that people often come and go in your life for a reason and this statement rings true for superstars Blake Shelton and his wife Gwen Stefani, who came into each other’s lives at a time when they were both undergoing a divorce from their partners. In 2015, while working on The Voice, the two superstars met and bonded over the tough situations they were both struggling through.

During an interview with Good Dish at Ole Red in Orlando, Shelton got serious about the impact “The Sweet Escape” singer has had on his life right from the start. He explained that meeting Stefani kept him from hitting the “absolute bottom.”

“We found each other at a very low point in each other’s lives,” he told Emmy-winning TV host & NY Times Bestselling Author Daphne Nur Oz. “I think she kept me from going to the absolute bottom, you know? It’s like literally falling off a cliff and a hand reached out and caught me is what it feels like. I don’t know, I’ve never had that with somebody where it just felt like no matter what she has my back. It’s the greatest feeling ever, for sure.”

Shelton and Stefani tied the knot last summer at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch. Their big day was made even more special when the “No Body” singer decided to surprise his wife by performing the song he wrote for her as his vows. He later released the highly anticipated heartfelt track, “We Can Reach the Stars” to the public.

Once they said their “I dos” and were named husband and wife, the lovebirds made a peaceful home for themselves in Oklahoma. Stefani still spends a lot of her time in Los Angeles for work, while Shelton spends more time on his ranch caring for the land and of course, his smokers.

Shelton explained that spending time on the open land and outside of the busy city environment is like an “escape” for Stefani.

“She loves it there, she loves the freedom of being able to just kind of let your guard down and not having to stress about where the paparazzi is hiding today,” he explained.

The Oklahoma native and chart-topping hitmaker continued to say that a typical day for them on the ranch includes maintaining their “acres and acres” of land.

“I get out there with the tractors, but she does most of the work when it comes down to planting. She wants to plant the flowers…and when I say acres, I’m serious about it. Any kind of flowers you can think of whether it’s Zinnias or sunflowers, bulbs, all that stuff. She loves experimenting with it and cuttin’ them when they grow. That’s just her other music in her life.”

Shelton continues to serve as a coach on The Voice when he’s not caring for his ranch, while Stefani is keeps busy with her music career and her makeup line, GXVE Beauty. Even with their busy schedules, they still find the time to celebrate their love for one another.
