The next wave of country artists is no longer waiting in the wings, as 2026 is shaping up to be a launch year for many rising stars. Despite the ever-changing industry, with no guarantees, in part due to the rise of artificial intelligence, years of growth and groundwork will finally pay off for many fresh-faced, authentic storytellers.

These artists have spent more than a decade building their brand behind the scenes, logging tour miles, sharpening their craft, and organically growing a fan base, one show, one stream, and one release at a time. These burgeoning talents aren’t just overnight sensations; they’re seasoned performers with experience packing honky-tonks and dive bars and earning praise from their country music heroes.

With pure momentum and ready energy, this class of artists will undoubtedly define the next generation of country music.

Here, Music Mayhem reveals 21 Artists to Watch in 2026 in no particular order.

Elizabeth Nichols

Elizabeth Nichols is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting new voices Nashville has seen in years. A pastor’s daughter, who was born in Texas and raised in Kentucky, she spent her early years singing in church. Though her path initially pointed toward law school, the singer/songwriter has been putting pen to paper since she was a child.

For Nichols, things began to truly pick up steam with the release of her cheeky breakout anthem “I Got A New One,” which took off online and went viral on TikTok. More recently, the song caught Kelly Clarkson’s attention and was featured on the original American Idol winner’s wildly popular “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. That moment catapulted the track to No. 1 on the Country iTunes chart for multiple weeks and signaled the arrival of a fast-rising country newcomer with something genuinely fresh to say.

Since moving to Nashville in 2024, Nichols has built serious momentum. In the summer of 2025, she released her debut EP, Tough Love, via Pulse Records. She has earned a reputation for having witty and observant lyrics that comment on modern life, societal norms, and current trends. Songs like “Mama,” “Trailer Treasure,” and “Bad Taste” showcase her broad-minded cheekiness and unapologetic confidence, which calls to mind an early Kacey Musgraves style of artistry.

Fresh off opening for Wyatt Flores and with a handful of shows already in the books for 2026, Nichols is proving she’s poised to be the next big country star to break through this year.

Sony Music Nashville recording artist Zach John King cut his teeth fronting an indie-rock band in college before moving to Nashville in 2021 to chase a bolder, truth-first sound. His decision to do so has paid off immensely, as he is now one of country music’s most electrifying rising talents to enter the scene.

Known for blending the soul of a roots poet with the grit of alt-rock edge, King is a standout in the country music landscape. His distinctly unique and identifiable musical combination has been crafted over the years as a Fayetteville, Georgia native, shaped by generations of poets who preceded him.

A lyricist first, King turned heads in 2024 with his breakout track “Wannabe Cowboy,” which generated millions of streams, earning him recognition as one of the genre’s most exciting rising stars. With his 2025 EP Slow Down and recent releases like “Still Feel The Burn” and “Happy For You,” he shows no signs of slowing down.

Already tapped as an artist to watch by many publications, King joins the elite list of rising stars on Music Mayhem. Ready to perform on massive stages throughout the year, folks can find him opening slots on Morgan Wallen’s upcoming Still The Problem Tour and Riley Green’s headlining Cowboy As It Gets Tour.

Raw, reflective, and fearless, Zach John King isn’t just coming up; he’s breaking through.

Kaitlin Butts is barreling into the new year with the kind of momentum that turns fast-rising artists into household names! The Oklahoma-raised singer/songwriter’s viral 2025 hit “You Ain’t Gotta Die (To Be Dead to Me)” saw her make a significant mark on the country music industry, paving the way for a milestone moment in her career.

Buzz from the song led her to ink a deal with Republic Records and fueled the release of her EP, Yeehaw Sessions. Playful, confident, and full of personality, the project, which serves as a follow-up to 2024’s critically acclaimed album Roadrunner!,  blends unexpected covers with a renewed take on “You Ain’t Gotta Die (to Be Dead to Me).” Notable covers on the project include a strong rendition of The Chicks’ “Sin Wagon” and a stripped-back version of Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle,” which made waves on social media upon release.

Butts has spent the past two years touring alongside fellow artists like Sierra Ferrell, Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson. She has belonged to both Opry NextStage and CMT Next Women of Country classes, proving she is no longer flying under the radar.

Armed with a magnetic stage presence and expert songwriting, Butts is without a doubt poised to be one of the biggest breakthroughs of 2026!

Blake Whiten is quickly carving out his place in country music. Hailing from a small South Carolina town of fewer than 800 people, this artist has taken on a dream that many hometown folks deem unimaginable and turned it into his reality.

After learning how to play the guitar from his dad, he went viral with a cover of Morgan Wallen’s “I’m The Problem.” Although the song isn’t one of Wallen’s most notable, Whiten’s rendition racked up more than 9 million views — an impressive feat for a young artist. Seeing that viral success as an opportunity, Whiten turned his online momentum into a career-defining moment with his breakout single “Rollin’ Stone.” The track has earned millions of streams on Pandora and became the cornerstone of his debut EP, Six Mile

Now signed to Enchntmnt/Warner Records, Whiten’s music career has taken shape. His latest release, “Hard to Break,” showcases his gritty authenticity, while songwriting credits on songs like Bailey Zimmerman’s “Holding On” underscore his growing influence as a songwriter for other artists.

Set to appear on Morgan Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour and with more than 30 dates in the book, supporting Zimmerman on the road, Whiten is gearing up for an unforgettable 2026.

Kenny Whitmire

All signs point to 2026 being a breakout year for Kenny Whitmire. His soothing country voice can cut through the noise, while his compelling storytelling proves a lengthy career is on the horizon.

After moving to Nashville in 2022 to chase a songwriting dream, Whitmire wasted no time making an impact. He first collaborated with Austin Snell, which led to his first paid gig as a touring guitarist. That position opened the door to a fast-growing network for Whitmire.

In 2025, Whitmire’s career reached new heights when Charlie Puth shared his music on social media, prompting national attention and an explosion of new followers that even included some country superstars like ERNEST, Jake Owen, Aaron Watson, Randy Travis, Craig Campbell, Josh Ross, Tracy Lawrence, Chase Matthew and more. He later signed a global publishing deal with River House Artists, in partnership with Sony Music Publishing Nashville. Kenny Whitmire has also earned credits on a long list of artists’ projects, ranging from Colin Stough’s “White Trash” to Cole Goodwin’s “Fast Track Back.”

However, beyond the writing room, Whitmire has shown his place on massive stages, as he has previously shared the bill with heavyweights like Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert, to name a few.

With the release of his latest song, “Me Being Me,” and the buzz around him on social media, Whitmire is poised to make the leap from respected artist to undeniable star, making this year the one where the rest of the country catches up on his traditional country sound.

Born on a map dot near Lamar, Missouri, Tyler Nance is fast making a name for himself in both the country and Americana markets. The country singer/songwriter is bound to have a major 2026 thanks to his gritty voice and poetry behind the pen.

Nance’s music serves as a reflection of the life he had lived long before stepping into the spotlight. He grew up tending cattle on his family farm and worked as a welder. His songs serve a purpose to relate to those who have lived a similar lifestyle to him, as authenticity pours out of every lyric.

Throughout his career, Nance has released two EPs — I’m Not Him and Wasted Chances. He further turned heads with the hard-hitting recently released “Shovel,” while his fast-paced, “Keeps Me Sane,” out via Santa Anna Label Group has exploded across TikTok and streaming platforms, earning over 17 million streams in the US and racking up six million streams in the matter of two weeks.

The track landed on Spotify’s Viral 50-Global chart and helped push his monthly listeners past the 2 million mark. Having already opened shows for artists like Bayker Blankenship, Kidd G, and Justin Moore, Nance is proving he can command just about any audience both on stage and online.

Cole Goodwin

At just 24 years old, Cole Goodwin is quickly carving out his place in country music. With a warm country vocal twang reminiscent of some of the biggest ‘90s neo-traditionalists and catchy lyrics, he is poised to make a splash in 2026.

A native of Pooler, Georgia, Goodwin introduced himself in 2023 with his self-produced EP, titled Soon Enough. The collection showcased Goodwin’s vocal strength, honest storytelling, and old-school country sound, giving him a launching pad for a grand entrance among his fellow artists. Since then, Goodwin has delivered standout releases like “Girlfriend’s Got A Boyfriend,” “Dust On The Dancefloor,” and “Messin’ With My Mind,” along with fan favorites “When You Get Home” and “Catchin’ On.”

Alongside his music, Goodwin has toured relentlessly across the Southeast, packing honky-tonks, clubs, and music festivals. Thus far, he has shared stages with big names like Zach Top, Billy Currington, and Luke Bryan.

Marking a major step forward, Goodwin recently celebrated his official signing to Big Machine Records, joining a roster that includes Tim McGraw, Carly Pearce, Midland, Rascal Flatts, and Jackson Dean. With a stacked 2026 schedule ahead and his upcoming There I Go Tour stint with Vincent Mason on the horizon, this country artist is destined to take off as one of country music’s next must-watch artists.

McCoy Moore

McCoy Moore is preparing for a whirlwind 2026 as he is set to join HARDY on the COUNTRY! COUNTRY! Tour following wrapped runs with Chase Rice and Kip Moore, respectively. The fast-rising country artist, hailing from Lakeland, Florida, is now based in Nashville and brings listeners a warm and commanding tone reminiscent of Blake Shelton.

Moore first began chasing his dream after high school, but it was a chance meeting with none other than Luke Combs that inspired him to take it the next level. His musical hero encouraged him to continue to pursue his talent and kept in touch with him after a chance encounter at a show earlier on in his career at The Ryman Auditorium. Moore took Combs’ advice to heart, grinding through writers’ rounds, honing his craft, and steadily building momentum as both a songwriter and artist.

Represented by TRACK mgmt and The Neal Agency, with publishing through SMACK Songs, Moore signed with Sony Music Nashville in 2025 in partnership with Cervidae Records. He has released songs like “Speaking Your Mind” and “Bible and a Bar,” with more recently dropped cuts like “John Deere Blue” and “Something To You,” all of which appear on his self-titled debut EP. McCoy Moore also made his Ryman Auditorium debut in 2025 and gained new fans with his relatable lyrics and anthemic sound.

With his growing catalog of songs that combines a modern country edge with classic sensibility, Moore is primed for country superstardom.

Mackenzie Carpenter

Mackenzie Carpenter is no longer a rising artist; she is a full-blown breakout waiting to happen! Having grown up writing songs with her brothers and singing in church, Carpenter created a musical foundation for herself before refining her craft at Belmont University.

That hard work and ethic paid off in a big way, leading to the singer/songwriter’s self-titled debut album, MacKenzie Carpenter, in 2023, followed by Hey Country Queen in 2025. Some of Carpenter’s standout tracks include the bold “Dozen Red Flags” and the heartfelt “Only Girl,” both of which further cemented her reputation as an emerging act who knows how to connect with an audience. Continuing to build on her glowing musical resume, in 2025, Carpenter teamed up with Midland on the sun-soaked collaboration, “I Wish You Would.” She added, yet another milestone moment with her Grand Ole Opry debut.

Long before stepping into the spotlight herself, Carpenter was already shaping the sound of modern country as a songwriter, kickstarting her career with a songwriting credit on Lily Roses’s 2021’s No. 1 hit “Villain.” She has also co-penned Megan Moroney’s Top 15 single, “I’m Not Pretty,” along with fan favorites like “Indifferent,” “28th of June” and many more tracks in Moroney’s catalog, all while building a fast-rising career of her own.

Carpenter, who has toured with the likes of Miranda Lambert, Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum, and Jake Owen, signed to The Valory Music Co. in 2022 and has since been named to MusicRow Magazine’s Next Big Thing Artists Class of 2025, Spotify’s Hot Country Artists to Watch, and CMT’s Next Women of Country, among other highlights. She now joins the list of Music Mayhem‘s artists to watch, lining her up to be one of country music’s next major stars.

Braxton Keith

Braxton Keith is blasting into the new year with an unshakable kind of momentum as someone with the sound of a future country megastar. A proud Texas native born in Midland, who splits time between his home state and Nashville, Keith is part of a new generation leading country music’s neo-traditional revival.

Having built his career the organic way, packing sawdust dance floors with his high-energy shows fueled by a ’80s country aesthetic and barbed-wire vocals, Keith shows no signs of slowing down. Signed to Warner Music Nashville, the 26-year-old talent has already created a buzz with original releases like the Gold-certified “Cozy” and covers like George Strait’s “The Chair.” The latter of those two tracks exploded out of the gate, earning over two million global streams in its first week.

Other standout tracks by Keith include originals like “Baby You Do,” “Prescription,” and “Lonely As The Lonestar.” In addition to his solid catalog, Keith has a packed slate of 2026 headlining shows on the This Ain’t My First Tour Continued…, paving the way for an unforgettable next 12 months ahead.

In Dallas, Texas, there was once a kid who chased pucks on the ice rink by day and played melodies on guitar by night. His name is Brendan Walter, and he has built a disciplined, high-pressure life as a hockey player. Despite his athletic talent, Walter felt a deep pull toward music.

Raised on jam sessions with his dad and inspired by artists ranging from Mumford & Sons to Tyler Childers, Walter made the pivot from college and sports to music full-time. He landed gigs at venues like The Saxon Pub, Mohawk, and Parish before making the move to Nashville.

Armed with a slight yodel and a dreamy set of vocals, the artist sharpened his skills, carving out a sound that’s raw, honest, and entirely his own. His 2024 project, I Don’t Know What I’m Doing Yet, struck a chord with listeners, while his collaboration with Low Gap on “If A Song Could Change Your Mind” surpassed one million streams.

Walter has rapidly grown his social media following and expanded his reach by hopping on tours with artists like Wyatt Flores and Evan Honer. Now signed to RECORDS Nashville/Sony Music and Warner Chappell Music Nashville, he released his debut album, Disappearing Days, showcasing his blend of rock, country, and folk influences.

With an undeniable voice and a relentless work ethic forged on the ice, it’s clear Brendan Walter has found his footing behind the microphone, making him one of country music’s next major storytellers.

Jacob Hackworth is the kind of artist whose rise feels inevitable. Before stepping into the spotlight, he worked behind the scenes, logging chart-topping hit after chart-topping hit as a songwriter.

A native of West Plains, Missouri, Hackworth has earned co-writing credits on Bailey Zimmerman’s smash hit “Rock And A Hard Place,” Tucker Wetmore’s “Wine Into Whiskey,” and Corey Kent’s “This Heart.” He has also co-penned tracks on Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken album.

After high school, Hackworth began posting performance videos on social media, catching plenty of attention with a voice and perspective that comes across as refreshingly new yet comfortably lived-in. After an introduction with songwriter Travis Smith, everything has seemingly fallen into place. Smith took Hackworth under his wing, persuading him to move to Nashville at age 22.

In 2025, Hackworth made a mark, stepping out from behind the scenes with the release of “When I Don’t.” He soon followed with the catchy “You Ain’t,” which showcases his strength in storytelling and a country/pop sound with an R&B flair, and he ended the year with his buzzed-about new single, “Bad As I Do.” With a strong social media presence, experience touring and co-writing songs with top artists, and a growing fan base, Hackworth is gearing up to make a serious impact in 2026. Remember his name and thank us later.

Cameron Whitcomb‘s journey into country music hasn’t come without a background in both hard work and hard lessons. At just 17 years old, the talented artist left his hometown of Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Though young, Whitcomb went straight into work mode, washing motorcycles at a Harley-Davidson dealership before moving on to more demanding pipeline work. It was those years, far from those closest to him, when he discovered singing as something that became both an outlet and a true calling.

A transparent rising star, Whitcomb’s music is drawn from addiction, recovery, and self-discovery. With his unfiltered and naturally gifted sound rooted in country and folk storytelling, there’s no doubt Whitcomb has taken the right path. But it was American Idol‘s Season 20 that provided a launching pad for the singer-songwriter, catapulting him into the national spotlight. Following his stint on the reality singing competition show, Whitcomb doubled down on his craft, drawing attention with the release of his debut EP, Quitter, in 2024. The project’s title track became a defining moment in Whitcomb’s career, garnering over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and establishing him as one of country music’s most compelling new voices.

Whitcomb further solidified his status with his debut album, The Hard Way, which gave him the material to launch a successful tour. Known for his quirky persona, signature backflip, energy and emotion-filled live shows and unwavering commitment to sobriety, Whitcomb stands out among the sea of talent recognized for 2026.

One country newcomer that should be on everyone’s radar is Tyce Delk. Raised between New Mexico and Texas, the burgeoning talent grew up a fourth-generation farmer, rancher, and musician.

With a sound deeply rooted in the land he was raised in, Delk draws lyrics from his personal background of agricultural upbringing and family legacy. Listeners will know Delk by that definitive sound, which offers a soulful, blues-tinged country style while blending both traditional and modern influences.

Delk quickly connected with an audience when he released his debut single, “Adaline,” marking his rising viral moment that catapulted him into the spotlight. The song showcased the singer/songwriter’s ability to resonate across generations of country fans. Delk continued to build on that success with the release of his debut EP Enough Ain’t Enough, which dropped in 2025 via River House Artists. The project includes singles, “As Long As I Got You” and “Can’t Recall,” and serves as a compelling introduction to Delk, who has plenty more to say.

Gabriella Rose is a natural born trailblazer. Creating her own lane with her genre-bending sound, fearless attitude, and soulful vocals, she’s a true original. But for those who are just getting to know her, she’s already coined her music as “cowboy pop.”

Raised between a small farm in Northern California and a ranch in Idaho, Rose was shaped by her musical influences, which included gospel, delta blues, cowboy ballads, soul, and hip-hop. As with many of today’s breakout artists, Rose’s first musical entries exploded online, where viral songs like “Necklace” and “Doublewide” introduced her to a rapidly growing fan base. But, Rose’s musical history didn’t come overnight. She grew up singing in church and learned how to bluegrass-pick at a young age.

Rose’s talent led her to guest as a featured vocalist on Zach Bryan’s “Madeline,” which further cemented her as a strong contender for becoming a lead female singer in her genre alongside stars like Lainey Wilson and Ella Langley. Aside from collaborating with fellow artists, Rose has released projects like her debut EP Lost in Translation and its follow-up Wait Til I Get My Money Up.  With plenty more music on the way and touring in the books, Rose is ready to take the country music world by storm in 2026.

Payton Smith

Payton Smith is ready to capture the hearts of country music fans far and wide. Hailing from Louisiana, the emerging artist picked up the guitar at age 10.

A self-taught musician, the singer/songwriter was first inspired by Keith Urban. Noticing the energy he saw in his hero, Smith applied that mentality to his own dream and continued to hone his craft and style, which blends ’90s country with rock influence.

Known for smooth vocals, fiery guitar mastery, and authentic storytelling, Smith made waves in 2019 with his self-titled debut EP. He followed that up with his breakout single, “Like I Knew You Would.” By age 20, Smith had already built a framework for an artist destined to become a star.  Having shared stages with names like Brad Paisley, Lady A, and Florida Georgia Line, he paired his catchy songs with a stage presence shaped by the elite in his genre. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut and earned recognition from a slew of popular publications, leading the way for his 2024 debut album, What Colors Your Wild

With his latest EP, Three Circle Farm Vol. 2, out and fresh off tours with Lily Rose, Chris Young, Brantley Gilbert, and more, 2026 is shaping up to be Smith’s year!

Cassidy Daniels

With a voice that brings chills to every release, Cassidy Daniels is one to watch for 2026. Having grown up under unique circumstances, she was born an Army Brat who forced to navigate the painful aftermath of 9/11. A daughter of a father who served in the Special Forces for 27 years, Daniels turned to music as her refuge, and captivated listeners with her first song titled “Beautiful Day.” That song helped her discover the power of storytelling. And, throughout the years, Daniels learned how to play guitar and took her skills and talent across the country.

The singer/songwriter found early mentors in legends like Johnny Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Michael Allman, and Liz Rose, who signed her to a co-publishing deal in 2019. In 2020, she released her self-titled debut EP and followed that project with more recent singles like “White Mustang” and “Heart Shaped Necklace.”

Most notably, Daniels appeared on the inaugural season of CBS/Paramount’s The Road, featuring Blake Shelton and Keith Urban, finishing in third place. The popular competition show helped expand her audience and showed the world her powerhouse vocals. Thanks to that momentum, Daniels is charging into 2026 with the kind of fearlessness that is bound to leave a lasting mark on the country music genre.

Kelsey Hart

Kelsey Hart has already done the hard part. Growing up in Kentucky, he has spent years putting in his time between barber chairs and songwriting sessions. Now, with songs like “Life With You,” “Just Maybe,” and “Fireworks” already out, 2026 is the year he is predicted to breakout.

Hart spent his early years singing gospel in church and fronting a hometown band. But, interestingly, he had never imagined he’d turn music into a full-fledged career. After high school, he worked as a licensed barber but caught the music bug following a visit to Nashville in 2016.

In 2020, a leap of faith in switching careers paid off when Hart scored a publishing deal and a full-artist deal with Curb Records later on. Proving his pen is just as strong as his work, he has landed cuts with Jake Owen, Dylan Scott, and Trace Adkins. His solo release, “Life With You,” inspired by his wife and used as the couple’s first dance at their wedding, went viral, debuting in the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Country Digital Songs Chart.

But Hart’s momentum hasn’t slowed.  He went on to make a milestone Grand Ole Opry debut and dropped his debut album of the same name, which showcases his emotional range and real-life storytelling. With an active touring schedule, more music coming and being named one of the New Faces of Country Music at CRS 2026, Hart isn’t an artist waiting for his shot; he’s already arrived.

Logan Crosby

As 2026 gets underway, don’t be surprised if Logan Crosby‘s name is sitting comfortably alongside the country’s next generation of headliners. The Georgia-born singer/songwriter has already been making an impact with his soulful voice, bubbly personality, razor-sharp songwriting, and noticeable stage presence.

Growing up, Crosby juggled his passion for music while studying political science at the University of Georgia. His moment arrived, however, when he emerged as a fan favorite on ABC’s Claim to Fame, finishing as a runner-up on the show and revealing himself as the cousin of superstar Jason Aldean

Extending his charisma beyond the silver screen, Crosby released “If Jesus Was A Cowboy” and signed a publishing deal with 50 Egg Music. He has served as a supporting act on Megan Moroney and Cole Swindell’s tours, among others. Logan Crosby also acted as Music Mayhem’s guest correspondent at the 2025 CMA Awards, which he nailed and showcased his comedic personality and on-air talent skills.

Crosby has continued to release music, including singles like “Whiskey Smoke,” “Ain’t Nothin’ Like Lovin’ You” and “All I Wanna Do.” With his headlining So Damn Free Tour coming up and a growing catalog that keeps expanding his fanbase, Crosby is making sure he’s one to bet on!

Kayley Green checks every box when it comes to country artists who are born to win awards and go down in history as a superstar. With honeyed vocals that glide one moment and belt the next, she is destined to become one of the major female powerhouse singers, and 2026 is bound to be her big break.

Hailing from Florence, South Carolina, Green was raised singing in her local church, but she knew early on that Nashville was the place to show the industry what she’s made of. After chasing her calling to Music City in 2013 and earning a degree at Belmont University, Green continued to evolve. But the COVID-19 pandemic provided a slight setback as she returned home to regroup. However, during that time, she found a silver lining. She built her brand online, earning a loyal fan base through platforms like TikTok, and returned to Nashville stronger than she was the first time.

Green was met with yet another silver lining, one that many artists could only dream of when she caught the attention of Keith Urban, who invited her to join him onstage at the Bridgestone Arena. Her performance alongside the heavyhitter set off a buzz that rippled through Sony Music Nashville, leading to a record deal and a creative partnership with Ross Copperman.

Already proving her radio worth, Green has released catchy songs like “Shadow of a Cowboy,” “Catching Up,” and “Live Fast Die Pretty.” With her undeniable charisma, a voice built for large arenas, and songs that can stand the test of time, Green is set to make her mark in 2026.
