Following the removal of Taylor Swift from the iconic Legends Corner mural in Nashville, Artist Tim Davis has launched a GoFundMe to help fund a new mural.

According to Davis, It has been an ongoing discussion about wanting to recreate and change up the mural every so often, which means removing some artists and replacing them with others to give them a moment to shine as part of the mural. Although, It is believed that this decision has come as there have been many of complaints from tourists in the area that she is more pop than country in the current day.

“I have heard many complaints here in Nashville about Taylor being on the wall with country legends since she is currently focused mainly on pop,” Davis explained. “Some inebriated bar hoppers have spit on her image specifically, feeling betrayed by her venture from country. I guess this is to be expected, but by in large, the people of Nashville love her, as do I.”

However, it seems that the artist is trying to help keep Swift’s iconic country music roots alive within a new mural that will not be on Legends Corner but will live elsewhere in Music City. He wants a painting that will be solely her and that would “feature her alone” with “one side dedicated to her country roots and the other to her success crossing over into pop since I think both are significant.”

The GoFundMe for the project is hoping to raise $35,000 to fund the supplies and mural space. The GoFundMe specifies that “as a music powerhouse in her own right, and having introduced many to the country music genre, she should be featured on a prominent mural in Music City that showcases both her country roots, and her earned status as the queen of pop.”

Swift was recently replaced by Brad Paisley on the iconic Nashville mural in downtown and Swifties were not happy about it. So let’s hope that this GoFundMe will hit it’s goal to be able to create a mural solely dedicated to Swift and her success in both pop and country.
