Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun were seen in a new photo together that could have been taken at the studio.

Lavigne shared an image to her Instagram on Tuesday (Dec. 29) and it sparked an explosion of excitement from her and the “Bloody Valentine” singer’s fans, igniting conversations of a possible collaboration that may be in the works. One fan commented calling the possible new song “THE COLLAB OF OUR DREAMS.”

“So are we ready for new music in the new year or what? Lemme know,” Lavigne captioned the image.

You can see the aforementioned photo below.

She shared a series of five photos to social media, In the first image you can see them posing for a portrait together. In the other images it appears that Mod Sun is documenting their time together in the studio recording as MGK is seen playing guitar and in the recording booth at a mic while Lavigne watches next to him sparking rumors of a possible duet together.

Lavigne even commented to the head of Rock music at Spotify on the post saying “@allihagendorf cant wait to play u the songs! ??,” insinuating that there are more than just one new song in the works with the superstar pairing. Also in the comments, Lavigne confirmed that her “best new album yet” is in the works and it appears she may be returning to her pop-punk roots.

The only other details we know as of yet are that Lavigne has been in the studio working on her new album over the past few weeks and that the upcoming new record is being produced by John Feldmann. We also know that she is working with MODSUN, who has been writing the record with her.

The album is expected to be released in 2021 and she is releasing a “fun surprise” for fans at the “top of the year in Jan.”

If they are releasing new music together, it will mark the first for her since the release of her 2019 album, Head Above Water, and will be the follow-up to MGK’s recently released No. 1 pop-punk album, Tickets To My Downfall.
