Aerosmith made history at a recent concert in Fenway Park. The show, which had 38,700 fans in attendance, marked the most tickets sold at the venue to date, according to a press release.

The show also kicked off the band’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, the release indicated.

The band reacted to the monumental attendance record, sharing a photo of themselves to Instagram. The massive crowd of fans can be seen in the background.

“Thank you, Boston!! You broke the record for the most tickets for any event in the 110-year history of Fenway Park! 50 years and still rocking!!,” they wrote, crediting the photographer who captured the shot and adding the hashtags, #Aerosmith #Aerosmith50 and #FenwayPark.

The concert wasn’t just special because of the attendance record the band broke, the event also represented their homecoming. The band hails from Boston and to mark their homecoming, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler made a surprise visit to 1325 Commonwealth Ave, which is better known as the “Aerosmith Apartment,” according to the same release.

The apartment, which was home to the band’s original five members, hosted Aerosmith-themed light shows ahead of the concert at Fenway Park. The band previously visited their old apartment in 2012, playing an almost hour-long concert that closed down the street, WCVB reported.

In addition, the band’s Boston concert precedes their return to Las Vegas for their AEROSMITH: DEUCES ARE WILD residency, which kicks off on Sept. 14 at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The residency is described as an “electrifying 90-minute live performance from the band who continue to deliver one of the most innovative and thrilling performances in music.”

Included in the 90-minute show are “exclusive, unreleased audio and never-before-seen visuals from Aerosmith’s archives,” the release noted.

To mark their 50th anniversary, the band announced a five-week YouTube concert series called 50 YEARS LIVE! FROM THE AEROSMITH VAULT, which premiered on Jul. 29 and ran through Aug. 26.

The series featured footage spanning the band’s 50 year-career that was remastered in high-definition.

The band, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001, is known for songs such as “Amazing,” “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “Livin’ On The Edge,” and “Love In An Elevator,” and more.
