That was incredible. That absolutely blew my fuc**ng mind to be honest. If I had that talent when I was 12 years old I wouldn’t have went to prison,” Jelly Roll told the sold-out crowd.

Jelly Roll got an assist on a recent performance of his and Brantley Gilbert‘s duet “Son Of The Dirty South,” bringing a 12-year-old fan named Brady on stage at a show in Milwaukee over the weekend to take over Gilbert’s verses on the song.

Brady told Music Mayhem that he and his dad had gotten VIP tickets to the show, held at American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Friday, and met Jelly Roll’s DJ, DJ Chill. Brady asked DJ Chill and Jelly Roll’s drummer, Cody Ash, if he could sing “Son Of The Dirty South” with Jelly Roll, sharing a TikTok video of himself rapping, which Cody sent to Jelly Roll.

During the show, Jelly Roll spotted Brady in the crowd with a sign he had made, which read, “Can I sing ‘Son Of The Dirty South’ with you please?”

Jelly Roll approved the request mid-show and asked his crew to give Brady a set of in-ear monitors before bringing him up to the stage, where Brady joined Jelly Roll for the song, much to the delight of the crowd.

After he crushed Gilbert’s verse of the tune, Jelly Roll told the crowd “I just want y’all to know it doesn’t always go that well. That was incredible. That absolutely blew my fuc**ng mind to be honest. If I had that talent when I was 12 years old I wouldn’t have went to prison. It’s going to be hard to follow that. We should’ve saved him for last.”

Brady shared a video of himself on stage with Jelly Roll on Instagram, writing, “Thank you so much @jellyroll615 and crew for sharing your stage with me. Milwaukee you were awesome tonight! #sonofthedirtysouth #bgnation.”

In addition to his performance, Brady also got to meet Jelly Roll and snap some photos with the star.

“It was a great experience,” Brady said. “It was really fun and energetic.”

Previously Filled In For Jelly Roll With Brantley Gilbert

Earlier this month, Brady showed off his skills on the same song when he joined Gilbert on stage to sing Jelly Roll’s verse during Nickelback’s tour stop at American Family Insurance Amphitheater, where Gilbert was an opening act.

Brady and his father had attended a Q&A and performance that was included in Gilbert’s VIP ticket packages, where Brady asked Gilbert if he could sing “Son Of The Dirty South” with him.

Gilbert was all in, even inviting Brady and his dad Dave to spend some time with him before the show, giving Brady advice and talking “about all kinds of stuff” with them. The performance went off without a hitch, and Gilbert gave Brady a stamp of approval on social media.

Brady, who goes by @metalbrady or @breakstuffbrady on social media, began singing at a young age and plays the drums. His taste in music ranges from 2000s country to rock and metal, and he previously performed Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff” with the band at a concert after lead singer Fred Durst spotted him in the crowd holding a sign.

“It feels like a really good feeling to see all the fans cheering for you and the band,” Brady told us. “It gives you shivers down your spine when you see the crowd for the first time! For me, it’s easier [to sing] in front of a crowd, but for other people maybe not. The best part of a concert is that everyone is happy and free — it’s like a big family.”

Jelly Roll’s concert in Milwaukee was part of his headlining Backroad Baptism Tour, which runs through October 14 with support from Ashley McBryde, Caitlynne Curtis, Chase Rice, Elle King, Merkules, Struggle Jennings, Three 6 Mafia and Yelawolf on select dates.
