A pair of George Strait fans got engaged at one of the King of Country Music’s recent concerts.
When Strait played at Arrowhead Stadium on Jul. 30, Nick Sutter proposed to his girlfriend, Jacquelyn Bladdick. Sutter popped the question during Strait’s popular song, “Check Yes Or No.”
Sutter described the proposal as “really memorable” and was glad “everything worked out.”
“I’m sure glad that we made it happen there. I think it was really memorable, and with the King of Country [Music]!” Sutter shared. “Everything worked out. Everything felt right. So, it was really cool.”
Sutter involved a group of his and now fiancé, Bladdick’s mutual friends in the proposal, Outsider reported. Sutter had their friends start filming just as he asked Bladdick to marry him, all while managing to keep the proposal a surprise from her.
“He just started talking in my ear,” Bladdick said of the moment Sutter asked her to marry him. “He’s just like, you know I love you right?”
“I’ve been carrying your love with me for more than four years and now, I just want to dance with you,” she continued, sharing how Sutter led up to the big proposal.
Video of the proposal, which has since been posted on YouTube, has amassed almost 1,700 views.
“It was really special to see all the different angles of it,” Bladdick said, discussing the video of Sutter’s proposal. “But also in those videos of it, you can see everyone behind us hooting and hollering, clapping,” she added.
Despite all of the hooting, hollering, and clapping happening amid the proposal, Bladdick couldn’t be happier.
“I checked yes!,” she told FOX 4 Kansas City. “It’s just really special that we got to experience that moment to just one of the biggest legends in country music,” she gushed.
As for planning the wedding, the couple shared that they’re keeping things small, but plan on sending Strait an invitation.
“Check Yes Or No” appeared on the country singer’s Strait Out of the Box set in 1995. The song tells the story of a little girl who kisses a boy on the playground and then hands him a note, asking him to “check yes or no” and let her know if he likes her back.
George Strait recently earned eighteen new certifications from The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Proving yet again why he is labeled “The King Of Country Music,” over a dozen of Strait’s timeless tunes were certified Gold, Platinum and 2x Platinum in July 2022, including several of his signature hits.
Additionally, the country hitmaker also revealed that he re-signed with his longtime record label and has plans to “make another record soon.”
