George Strait and Chris Stapleton joined forces for a duet during Strait’s headlining concert at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday (July 30).
The country superstars performed a cover of Tom Petty’s classic hit “You Wreck Me,” a track from Petty’s second studio album, Wildflowers.
“Oh, yeah, you wreck me, baby / You break me in two / But you move me, honey / Yes you do,” Strait and Stapleton sang on the chorus.
The performance marked Strait’s first time at Arrowhead Stadium since 2001.
The country music icon took to social media to share photos from the incredible evening.
“Nothing but good times in Kansas City alongside @ChrisStapleton, @littlebigtown and @ParkerMcCollum at @GEHAField on Saturday!” Strait captioned the post.

Stapleton also shared photos to social media, including an image alongside Strait on stage.
“Always an honor to play with @georgestrait,” Stapleton wrote.
In addition to George Strait and Chris Stapleton, the concert also featured performances from Little Big Town and Parker McCollum.
Strait recently earned eighteen new certifications from The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Proving yet again why he is labeled “The King Of Country Music,” over a dozen of Strait’s timeless tunes were certified Gold, Platinum and 2x Platinum on Friday, July 15, including several of his signature hits.
George Strait Recently Re-Signed To His Longtime Label & Revealed Plans To Record A New Album Soon
During an April 2022 interview with Pollstar, Strait revealed that he resigned with his longtime record label, MCA Records.
“I just re-signed with MCA Records and I’m really excited about that and the fact that they still want me around,” Strait said. “They’re the only record company I’ve ever been with, and I guess the only one I’ll ever have. They can bury me under the building when that time comes.”
In the interview he also shared that he has plans to “make another record soon.”
