Just one day before performing at Soldier Field in Chicago, Kenny Chesney shocked patrons during Old Dominion’s pop-up concert in Chicago on Friday evening (June 24).

The eight-time Entertainer Of The Year and reigning 2022 ACM Group Of The Year surprised guests at Joe’s On Weed Street in Illinois with a performance of “Save It For A Rainy Day.”

Old Dominion announced the intimate, surprise pop-up show just hours before it took place on social media and within minutes the tickets were all claimed.

The moment made for a once-in-a-life experience for attendees as the venue only holds a few hundred people, a stark contrast to the 61,000+ fans who will attend the Saturday’s concert at Soldier Field.

Following their show-stopping duet together, Chesney and the “I Was On A Boat That Day” singers took to social media to share photos of their pop-up show.

“When in Chicago… See you tonight at @soldierfield,” they collectively captioned the images, which were taken by Old Dominion’s photographer Mason Allen.

Co-written by Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi alongside Andrew Dorff, “Save It For A Rainy Day” appears as the fourth and final single from Chesney’s 2014 album, The Big Revival.

The tour mates previously surprised fans less than 48 hours before kicking off the Here And Now Tour in Tampa, when Chesney delivered an unexpected performance alongside Old Dominion at Crowbar in Florida.

The band, who have toured with Chesney multiple times, say that Chesney and his crew are like “family” to them now.

“That’s the dream gig to go on tour with him. Everybody wants to experience that and should be so lucky to experience it once, and this happens to be our fourth time,” Old Dominion frontman Matthew Ramsey shared with ABC Radio. “We’re good friends at this point with him and his whole crew, and we love it so much. It’s a family reunion at this point, so we’re so happy to go back out there with Kenny.”

The Here And Now Tour 2022 kicked off on Saturday, April 23 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The 41-city tour runs through August 27 with back-to-back nights at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
