Noah Thompson shared an impressive cover of Luke Combs’ latest single “The Kind Of Love We Make” earlier this month.

The Season 20 American Idol winner took to his Instagram stories to share a video of himself singing the new song from Combs’ latest album, Growin’ Up.

Joined by a co-worker at a construction site and surrounded by buckets of Spackle, Thompson sat on a milk crate singing Combs’ latest single as his colleague strummed the acoustic guitar as he sat atop a pile of sheet rock.

“We’ve been burnin’ both ends / Keepin’ the lights on / So I’ve been thinkin’ we need / A little time alone,” Thompson begins to sing. “So whatcha say we cancel our plans? / Tonight, I’m only gonna be your man.”

“Let’s get some candles burnin’ / And some records turnin’ / All the lights down low / Take it nice and slow / The way your body’s movin’ / Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ / To me all night long / Writin’ our love song / Girl, I want it, gotta have it / Let the passion take us to a higher place / Makin’ the kind of love we make,” Thompson sang before the clip concluded.

Thompson is gearing up to released his fan-favorite, countrified rendition of Rihanna’s “Stay” later this month.

The 20-year-old country singer has been working on new music since winning Idol after spending some time at home with his son Walker, who he says is his biggest motivation.

He is currently writing new music in his home state of Kentucky while frequently visiting Music City to promote his debut single “One Day Tonight.”

“[Songwriting is] definitely something that I’m looking forward to doing now that I have the time because I’m not working an 80-hour job every week anymore. I can finally sit down and try to write some songs,” he recently told Music Mayhem.

Writing music isn’t something the Kentucky native is used to, but Idol gave him the boost he needed to get started on honing in on those skills. “Being on that show has definitely helped me become a better writer. It’s given me something to say.”

On Thursday evening (July 28), Thompson will take the stage at 19 Recordings’ Whiskey Jam takeover at Winners Bar in Music City, where he will be joined by Idol alum Francisco Martin, Laci Kaye Booth, Allegra Miles, Casey Bishop, Fritz Hager, HunterGirl and Grace Leer.

“Excited to hit the stage with these guys, make sure y’all come on down to #whiskeyjam July 18th!!!” Thompson excitedly shared on Instagram, announcing the event a few days ago.

The fast-rising country star later announced that he would be performing on Friday (July 29) at The Hutton Hotel in Downtown Nashville alongside Chayce Beckham, Dillon James, Hager, Martin, Leer, Bishop, Miles and Booth.

“Two shows in one week, Y’all come see me!!! #19 #americanidols #writersround,” Thompson captioned the show announcement.

Tickets for Thompson and his Idol alum’s show at the Hutton are available now at AnalogNashville.com.
