Chayce Beckham shared the highly anticipated official music video for his massive viral track, “23,” on Tuesday (July 18).
The video follows the story of a man who is plagued by tough times and a struggle with alcohol as viewers watch his vices take over and his life crumble around him.
The video includes clips of Beckham performing the song with just his guitar and a dark background, creating a simple yet powerful visual that allows listeners to focus on the hard hitting and raw lyrics. Towards the end of the video when everything is coming to a head for the main character, Beckham walks past him and makes eye contact in a commanding scene.

Originally released during Beckham’s winning American Idol season, the autobiographical tune shot straight to the top of the iTunes country and all-genre charts as well as debuted atop the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales chart and in the top 25 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Produced by Ross Copperman at SoundFactory Recording Studio in Hollywood, California, the self-penned track earned the singer the title of the first-ever contestant to win Idol with an original song.
Autobiographical Song “23”
“23” is a very personal song to Beckham as he authentically sings about his life story and his past struggles with alcohol. Throughout the song, he references real life experiences from a very dark time in his life prior to his audition for the competition series.
“Now I’m 23 / and there ain’t nobody who can drink like me / Soon I’ll be 24 / And the Lord knows that I can’t drink no more / I know I should’ve taken it slow / It’s not the way that my life goes / Now I know / When you’re pass out on the floor,” Beckham sings in the chorus of the track.
“23” has become a fan-favorite and staple in the artist’s live shows and has earned more than 278 million on-demand streams, become RIAA-certified GOLD and has broken into the Top 30 at country radio.
What Is Chayce Beckham’s Single “23” About?
“I wrote that song about a year ago, right around this time, or last May, and I think that I never thought that that song would take me where it’s taking me now, that it would be a Number One song,” Beckham shared in an interview with Music Mayhem following the release of the track. “A lot of people told me when I played that song, that song should be on the radio, it should be on the radio. I was always like, you know, this little old song? Nah (laughing), I don’t think so, man.”
He continued, “But sure enough, that song was saved for my debut single, and it did really well, so it’s a full circle experience from where I was when I just got out of a 7-year relationship. I was sitting in my house by myself, you know, drunk, writing that song. All the things I went through after that, leading up to Idol and getting into Idol, and then getting to release that song, and for it to do what it’s doing right now is just more than my wildest dreams could ever have imagined, man. you know. It’s crazy, it’s fucking crazy, man. (laughing).”
Preparing To Release New Music
Beckham is gearing up to share new music with fans after dropping his most recent track, “Till The Day I Die,” this past April. Written with Andy Albert, Jordan Minton and Mark Trussel, it is an ultra-personal song for Beckham, who lost his buddy Lance to an accident last year. Serving as a tribute to his late friend Lance, the track finds Beckham offering his signature vocals over a relaxing country melody and singing about keeping up his outlaw cowboy ways until the sun sets one last time.
The rising star’s newest track follows single “Keeping Me Up All Night” and his successful debut EP, Doin’ It Right, which skyrocketed to the top of the iTunes All Genre and Country charts upon its release.
Additionally, Chayce Beckham is currently on the road for Luke Bryan’s 2023 Country On Tour and is slated to take the stage for his own headlining shows, in addition to various festival dates, including Faster Horses, Watershed and more.
