Walmart has issued an apology to Morgan Wallen following the leak of his forthcoming album, Dangerous: The Double Album.

According to Rolling Stone, Walmart recently apologized to Wallen for the leak saying they are “deeply apologetic to Morgan for this unfortunate situation.” A spokesperson for the retail giant explained that the leak only happened in “less than 10” of their 4,000 stores nationwide and that they are “actively removing any albums remaining on the shelves in those stores to hold until the official release date, and taking additional precautionary measures for the future.”

“We appreciate Morgan as an artist and understand his frustration and disappointment. We have protocols in place to help ensure new albums are not sold before the release date, yet in this instance his album made its way to the shelf in a handful of stores early,” a Walmart spokesperson added.

Fans were initially ecstatic when they discovered Wallen’s new album had already hit some Walmart shelves, a week ahead of it’s official release date. However, the country superstar was not as impressed as he worked very hard on the new 30-track project and didn’t want a retail giant such as Walmart to leak his musical masterpiece.

The leak was brought into the spotlight when fans shared photos and videos throughout social media on Monday (Jan. 4) showcasing their find in states including North Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia, Wisconsin and more. Not only were photos shared of fans holding the new album but also videos that included snippets of unreleased songs and that really upset Wallen while he is also thankful for them being “eager” to spread the new music.

So, the “More Than My Hometown” singer released a video statement on social media, sharing that he is going to leak the music himself via his TikTok account as if anyone should be leaking his new album, it should be him.

Wallen went on to drop three leaks of songs including “Warning” “Dangerous” and “Rednecks, Red Letters, Red Dirt” on TikTok, all of which are set to appear on his forthcoming new album, Dangerous: The Double Album. You can hear the three new songs HERE.

Dangerous: The Double Album is set for official release on Friday, January 8.
