After taking the world by storm in 2021, Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like” is officially the winner of the Country Now Award for Favorite Viral Song.
The news was announced on Wednesday during the Inaugural Country Now Awards livestream by special guest presenter Kierra Lewis.
Hayes appeared virtually to accept the award.
“What’s up Country Now, fans and friends. Walker Hayes here, holy cow, come on! Favorite Viral Song of the year, wow, that’s just wild to say,” he admitted.
The father of six went on to show his appreciation to those who voted for him.
“I just want to say I appreciate it so much. Country Now, just thanks for including me. That’s amazing, what a cool award and fans it’s all y’alls fault, I mean y’all did it, y’all made ‘Fancy Like’ what it is,” he proudly said. “I’m glad y’all love it, I appreciate y’all doing the dance and all that stuff and so does my daughter. She appreciates it. We just love y’all so much, just wanted to say thanks, and we appreciate it.”
Since its release, “Fancy Like” has topped every sales and streaming chart, spent over four months at the No.1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, was featured in a national Applebee’s ad campaign, and hit the top 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songs.
“Beer Beer, Truck Truck” by George Birge , “I’m A Survivor” by Reba, “Just The Way” by Parmalee and Blanco Brown, “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn, “Payin’ For It” by Levi Hummon feat. Walker Hayes, “Redneck Be Like” Thomas Rhett, and “Stop Draggin’ Your Boots” by Danielle Bradbery were also nominated in the category.
The Inaugural Country Now Awards streamed on Wednesday, December 8. The winners in the 14 categories were determined by fan votes placed between November 15 and November 30 on CountryNow.com. Over 1.1 million total votes were cast.
Hosted by Country Now’s Lauren Black, the Country Now Awards featured special appearances by Brantley Gilbert, Carly Pearce, Chayce Beckham, Chelcie Lynn (a.k.a. Trailer Trash Tammy), Elle King, ERNEST, Jameson Rodgers, Jimmie Allen, Kaleb Austin, Katie Austin, Kierra Lewis, Lindsay Ell, Morgan Wallen, and Walker Hayes.
George Birge, HARDY, Jameson Rodgers, Jimmie Allen, Laine Hardy, Lainey Wilson, Restless Road and Lily Rose performed.
