Kane Brown played a small part in a young girl’s adoption on Sunday (Dec. 5) when he performed the touching track, “For My Daughter” during a live adoption on CBS.

Brown hosted and performed during the 23rd Annual A Home for the Holidays special, which aired immediately following The National Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday evening.

The country superstar and 2021 CMT Artist Of The Year introduced the Rodriguez family as they welcomed a young girl named Marjorie into their family.

Marjorie entered foster care as a toddler and by the time she was 5, she had lived in six different homes. After being subjected to neglect and abuse, Marjorie was welcomed into the home of Cline and Jerry Rodriguez. She was reserved at first, but quickly warmed up to the family, who showered her with love and attention.

The live adoption made her an official member of the Rodriguez family as she finally found her forever family.

Brown shared a moving performance of “For My Daughter to celebrate the monumental moment. Surrounded by fans and several members of his band, the country superstar shared an emotional moment with the family that they won’t soon forget.

Kane Brown is father to Kingsley, 2, whom he shares with his wife, Katelyn.

The chart-topping singer/songwriter has been opening about the struggles he faced as a child growing up without a father in the picture.

“It was hard for me, man, I knew everything not to do just from my dad not being there,” he added. “I was raised by all females, my mom, my aunt, my Nana, who’s the love of my life, she raised me.”

His experience as a young boy inspired him to write a song.

“I didn’t know if I was having a boy or a girl, I just knew I was going to be the best damn dad that I could be,” he said. “So this goes out to all the daddies out there trying to do everything for their kids.”

“For My Daughter” was first released just days after Kingsley’s birth in October 2019.

“They say dads are supposed to shape you, in a way I guess mine did / I knew what I wouldn’t do if I ever had a kid / They say history repeats itself / Well, I guess that’s up to me / Yeah, I grew up without a dad / I’m gonna be the best one I can be,” Brown sings in the chorus.

Earlier in the show, Brown performed his 2019 hit, “Good As You” from his second album, Experiment.
