No matter where he’s at, whether it’s on the road or at his home, viral Country hitmaker Walker Hayes always makes being a dad his number one priority.

The music scene has taken a significant liking to Hayes since the release of his GRAMMY nominated hit, “Fancy Like,” but he doesn’t let that take away from his duties as a father to his six children. A parent’s biggest responsibility is making sure their kids are happy, healthy and fed at all times. So when Hayes has to take a trip to the grocery store with his wife, Laney, things can get a bit “insane.”

During a recent interview on The Bobby Bones Show, Hayes explained what it’s like shopping for his family of eight.

“We do a lot of that rotisserie chicken, that’s helpful. We do tons of cereal – we do like six gallons of milk – a week,” he revealed. “We make French toast, it’s like twenty eggs.”

Growing kids need a lot more food throughout the day, according to Hayes who gave a brief look into what his oldest child’s daily food intake consists of.

“My oldest son is fourteen and, homeboy – y’all it’s like, it’s four peanut butter sandwiches right before he goes to bed, every night,” Hayes said. “I’m talking about like half a loaf of bread and half a thing of JIF and then he’ll just go to bed, you know, and then when he wakes up, he’s ready to go again – it’s insane!”

Luckily, Hayes is able to afford the grocery bills as he continues to maintain his popular status with the recent release of his highly-anticipated project, Country Stuff The Album, and getting out on the road for his Fancy Like headlining tour, which already has several sold-out dates. Hayes revealed that with all this success he’s been seeing, fans are beginning to recognize him and his family more often when they’re out in public grocery shopping or just eating out.

“As far as fame, you know, is concerned it’s the recognition, you know, everywhere we go. Like, if we go to Chick-fil-A everybody wants to meet us and get a picture with, like, the whole fam, you know? And I love it, everybody’s so nice, but that was a huge – I mean, that happened overnight,” Hayes stated.

Even when he’s just around his house, the neighbors have started to take more notice in the “AA” singer’s rise in fame.

“I got neighbors now, you know, who want autographs, but I haven’t seen them, you know, for a couple of years. I’m like, I’m the same dude,” he acknowledged. “But you know, man, you know my story through and through and so while that is an adjustment, I’m so grateful because those people buy music, you know, and they sing along, and they learn the dances, or their kids, and that’s all I wanted to happen.”

Hayes was recently nominated for several ACM awards including New Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Song of the Year for “Fancy Like.” This follows the Grammy nomination he received for the category of Best Country Song.
