Since starting a new chapter as a solo artist, Tyler Hubbard is showing no signs of slowing down and his new project, Dancin’ In The Country is proof.
Best known as one half of the country music duo, Florida Georgia Line, Hubbard took the leap and began releasing music on his own earlier this year, while his duo partner Brian Kelley did the same. This week, Hubbard shared his first EP as a solo artist and country superstar Keith Urban had a hand in writing the title track.
Co-penned by Urban and Hubbard along with Jon Nite and Ross Copperman, “Dancin’ In The Country” is an upbeat track that will have fans on their feet dancing along to the lively anthem as intended. The singer explained that Copperman and Urban worked on the musical side of the track while he and Nite tackled the lyrics.
“We pretty much just had a good time. I said, ‘Let’s write something that feels good. That’s really fun. That makes you want to dance,'” Hubbard told Kelleigh Bannen during an interview with Today’s Country Radio. “We’ve been having these dance parties every night at my house after dinner with our three kids… And so, I was sort of in that headspace of, let’s just make some fun music.”
That evening, within just three hours, they had a demo ready to go.
“I’ll take you dancin’ in the country, Levi’s in them low beams / Spin you in some red dirt, sweep you off of both feet / Out here where the sun sets, Silverado backbeat / You’ll never wanna go home and never wanna not be / Dancin’ in the country / Dancin’ in the country,” he sings in the chorus.
In addition to this song, the EP features five other tracks including Hubbard’s fan-favorite, “5 Foot 9.”
The country hitmaker revealed that he will kick off the new year by releasing his first solo album in January and this EP was the first taste of what fans can expect to hear from him moving forward. The reason for releasing music at such a rapid pace is so that he has plenty for fans to sing along to when he joins his fellow co-writer Urban on the fall leg of his Speed of Now World Tour alongside the 3x GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker Ingrid Andress.
“Honestly, being out on the road with Keith [Urban], I wanted to have more songs out that the fans could know and come sing with me live, so that’s the purpose of this project. There’s five new songs out. And so, I’ll have eight out total in the fall and maybe we’ll put one more out later on in the fall. But full project coming in January, which will be 18 songs we’ve recorded.”
A little taste of Dancin’ In The Country out now! What are your favorite songs so far?
It turns out that while Hubbard has looked up to the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer for some time now, “Dancin’ In The Country” is the first time they have written together, but he hopes it won’t be their last.
“I’ve admired and respected Keith for a long time. We’ve actually only written one song together,” Hubbard shared. “He’s always just been so great, supportive, and kind to me, and really been a friend. He texts me on the regular basis and reaches out and just literally says, ‘How you doing?’ And it’s just, ‘Oh wow.’ I know he’s busy. I know we’re all busy. And to take the time to think about me and just to text me and ask me how I’m doing, I don’t know, it goes a long way.
While spending time on the road together, it seems as though their bond will only get stronger.
Tyler Hubbard will join the Speed of Now Tour beginning September 3 in Mountain View, CA.
