Taylor Swift continued to prove why she is the greatest entertainer of the all time as she brought The Eras Tour to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday evening (April 30) for her third consecutive sold-out show at the home of the Atlanta Falcons.
Representing various looks of Swift’s career, the “Swifties” arrived to the concert in style donning outfits that resembled some of her most iconic looks.
Taylor Swift Performed 44-Songs In Three Hours
Over the course of three hours, the 12-time GRAMMY winner took fans on an emotional musical journey that chronicled her illustrious career.
“Tonight, we are going to go on an adventure together. We’re going to be time traveling back through 17 years of music, one era at a time,” a joyous Swift told the capacity crowd. ”These songs we’re going to do tonight may’ve started out as something that happened to be or something that I felt or a fictional character that I created in my imagination, but by the end of the night these songs are going to be about you, about us and all the memories we made on this fine Sunday night!”
Swift delivered an impressive 44-song set that featured songs from nine of her ten studio albums, including Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017).
Swift Shares A Special Connection With Her Fans
The connection Swift shares with her audience is unmatched. At one point in the evening, the crowd of 60,000-plus showed their unwavering support for the singer/songwriter when they lit up the stadium with cell phone lights while she sang “Marjorie.” The gesture made Swift quite emotional.
“[My grandmother] I loved so much, who passed away when I was 13. She was an opera singer, and to hear her voice played in that song and for you guys to have done that… I felt things, and It was good to feel things. It’s not just me, you made all of us cry. Congratulations. I hope you’re happy,” she told the audience as she wiped tears away from her eyes.
Reflected On Time Away From Fans
She then reflected on what it means to be reunited with her fans after her hiatus from the road.
“I haven’t gotten to tour in a while, like in four or five years since I’ve gotten to be in a room with beautiful, wonderful people like you singing words back to me and doing spontaneous acts of kindness like you just did holding up all those flashlights on your phones. That’s why we make music… I really, really missed you when we away and I’m so happy we get to be back with you. It’s very overwhelming, obviously.”
The 33-year-old singer/songwriter also included tunes from the four albums that were released since the conclusion of her 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour: Lover (2019), Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020) and Midnights (2022).
“During the time away, I really, really wanted to connect with you in any way that I possibly can. So like if we couldn’t do live music, I just wanted to write as much as I possibly can. Put out as many albums as I possibly could. So, we have four new members of the musical family that we have added. Their names are Lover, and then we had Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. You guys were just so unbelievably supportive of those projects, those albums and those eras and it’s all culminated in us being here tonight in this room.”
Two Surprise Songs
Taylor Swift also performed two surprise songs on Sunday. She treated fans to the live debut of “I Bet You Think About Me,” sans Chris Stapleton, and the fan-favorite 1989 hit, “How You Get The Girl.”
Visually Stunning Production
Swift’s epic three-plus hour set brought a visually stunning production that included everything from confetti and pyrotechnics to synchronized light-up wristbands and a 4-D video wall that filled the entire length of the stage backdrop.
Her one-of-a-kind show also featured a plethora of moving set elements such as staircases, ladders and more, making for a theatrical showcase unlike anything fans have ever witnessed from a touring act.
She even brought along a slew of dancers, who added even more to her set with flawlessly choreographed dance routines pairing with many of the songs.
In addition to a jaw-dropping production, Taylor Swift was sure to go all out for her wardrobe during the show, which featured more than a dozen costume changes. Each of the costume changes flawlessly matched the eras that she was representing.
She also brought back costumes and set designs reminiscent of different eras of her iconic career, giving each era and each song its own moment in the show.
A Concert Experience Like No Other
Throughout the evening, Swift also proved that she is still the vocal powerhouse she has always been as she belted out the lyrics to hit after hit song. She truly allowed her vocal prowess to be highlighted during her performances of “Cruel Summer,” “Don’t Blame Me,” “Enchanted” and “Lavender Haze” among others.
With jaw-dropping production combined with Swift’s unmatched showmanship, The Eras Tour is more than just a concert; it’s an experience. This is Taylor Swift at her best and anyone lucky enough to score tickets to a show is in for the night of their lives.
