Shania Twain surprised Miranda Lambert ahead of the opening night of her Las Vegas Velvet Rodeo residency. Twain delivered a special message to the “Actin’ Up” singer with a little help from Entertainment Tonight‘s Cassie DiLaura.
While interviewing Lambert about her Las Vegas residency, DiLaura said she had a surprise and proceeded to play a video message from Twain.
“Put your boots on and come out here and kick some a–,” Twain, who’s also done her own Las Vegas residency, told Lambert.
“That’s sweet,” Lambert said, adding, “I actually saw Shania out here back in December. We did what we call a recon trip. We saw Brooks & Dunn and Reba and then we saw Shania and George Strait so, um it’s really cool. I think that’s also what set it in when you drive around and see all the show billboards. It’s just this big city of art being promoted.”
Lambert kicked off her Las Vegas residency at the Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Sept. 23. Lambert performed a 90-minute show that featured a 22-song set list spanning her entire career complete with pyro, fireworks, and fringe.
Lambert announced plans for her Las Vegas residency back on Mar. 30. “I’m heading to Vegas y’all! My new residency Velvet Rodeo begins this fall!” she wrote on Instagram.
“When you’ve been touring as long as I have, there’s something really creative about imagining a residency in a city like Las Vegas. I’ve had a lot of fun designing our sets, merchandise and clothing and boot lines – and even my place on Broadway in Nashville, Casa Rosa – so, this opportunity allows me to lean in a bit more into that side of myself and think about how to really bring country music to life in this room. I think everyone will like what we’ve dreamed up. I’m really excited about this!,” she added.
The 7,000-capacity venue allows Lambert to truly connect with her fans throughout the show as she brought the intimate feel of a Broadway honky-tonk to Sin City.
Velvet Rodeo features a 90-minute set and serves as a celebration of Lambert’s artistry with a 22-song, career-spanning set list that featured tunes from her debut album, Kerosene, to her current project, Palomino.
Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo 2022 residency concludes on Dec. 11. The country singer will then return to Vegas on March 24 to play a handful of residency shows scheduled for 2023.
Additionally, Lambert, Live Nation Las Vegas and Caesars Entertainment have announced that $1 of every ticket purchased to “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency” at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will be donated to Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that has raised over $6 million since its inception in 2009.
The Foundation’s mission is to promote the adoption of rescue pets, support animal shelters across the country, advance spay & neuter and assist with the transport of animals during times of natural disaster. For more information, visit www.muttnation.com.
