Scotty McCreery revealed that he’s looking forward to introducing his son to sports and music during a recent interview with Audacy’s Rob Stone and Holly Hutton.

McCreery told Stone and Hutton that sports is “such a huge thing for [him]” and that he’s looking forward to playing baseball with his son someday.

“[I’m looking forward to playing sports with him] just because that’s such a huge thing for me,” McCreery said, adding that he’s going to play baseball with him.

McCreery also shared that his wife Gabi will teach their son a different sport.

“Gabi’s gonna give him a soccer ball because she’s great at it,” he continued. “Golf, all that stuff, and then once he’s old enough, we’ll get him a little guitar and see if he wants to play guitar too… whatever he wants to do is great!”

When describing how he and Gabi feel about welcoming their son, who is also their first child, McCreery said the pair is “over the moon.”

“We are stoked, we’re over the moon. So glad it’s finally out there,” the “Damn Strait” singer said. “It’s such a huge blessing.”

“She’s pretty far along at this point, we’re over halfway there, but we wanted to have a few months where just family and friends knew,” he added.

McCreery and wife Gabi announced their pregnancy via social media back in mid-June. While they initially wanted to keep the news as private as possible, McCreery admitted they knew things couldn’t stay that way for long.

In a recent conversation with Buddy Iahn on The Music Universe podcast, McCreery admitted that keeping the pregnancy a secret was “tough.”

“It’s been tough to keep it a secret for a while. Now we don’t have to hide anything, and we can share it with everybody. For us, it was one of those things where we just kind of treasured that initial time with just ourselves and just family and friends knowing, and not being too public,” McCreery explained. “But after a while, with this kind of thing, you can’t really keep the secret too much longer.”

When asked if he and Gabi have a name picked out for their son, McCreery said they hadn’t yet decided on anything because they initially thought they were having a girl.

Baby Boy McCreery is due in November.
