Sam Hunt shared a soundbite to his Instagram on Sunday (Aug. 30) of himself covering the Garth Brooks‘ hit “What She’s Doing Now.”
In the clip, you can hear Hunt singing the lyrics to the track while giving the song a new refreshing, synthesized, upbeat sound with his own signature spin on it. Hunt’s spin on the track is reminiscent of Gorilla Zoe’s “Echo” instrumentally and vocal editing wise.
Hunt starts by singing the chorus of the song:
“Just for laughs I dialed her old number
But no one knew her name
Hung up the phone sat there and wondered
If she’d ever done the same
I took a walk in the evenin’ wind
To clear my head somehow
But tonight I lie here thinkin’
What’s she doin’ now”

“What She’s Doing Now” was co-written by Brooks alongside Pat Alger and is a track that Brooks released in 1991 as the third single from his album, Ropin’ The Wind. The song spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart upon release.
Hunt released his Platinum-certified album, Southside, earlier this year.
Let us know what you think and do you hope Hunt releases the rest of the cover?
