Riley Green And Lily Pearl Black Perform “When I Said I Do”

On Sunday, September 15, Green surprised fans during his headlining set on the iHeartCountry FanZone Stage with a special duet featuring Lily Pearl Black. Green, wearing a pair of blue jeans and a short sleeve pearl snap shirt and ball cap, invited the 21-year-old rising star, donning a strapless mini dress complete with pastel flowers, to the stage to join him.

“Ms. Lily Black has become a good friend of mine recently… We’ve almost practiced the song together, and Mrs. Lisa Hartman Black and Mr. Clint Black are her mom and dad, so y’all may be familiar with them as well. I don’t know why I’m going to try this, but one of my favorite love songs… one of the best love songs ever written… We’re going to try a little bit of it, we’ll see,” Green said before he and Lily Pearl went on to perform the tune as Lily Pearl’s friends and mom watch from side stage.

Together, the pair of singer/songwriters recreated the beloved country song and truly brought it to life in their own way.

Lily Pearl Fills In For Ella Langley On “You Look Like You Love Me”

After performing the Clint and Lisa Hartman Black hit song, Riley Green asked Lily Pearl to fill in for Ella Langley to perform “you look like you love me,” a performance that was well received by the massive crowd.

“Excuse me/ You look like you love me/ You look like you want me/ To want you to come on home/ And baby, I don’t blame you/ For lookin’ me up and down across this room/ I’m drunk, and I’m ready to leave/ And you look like you love me,” Lily Pearl and Riley Green sang in sync on the tune’s chorus.

The Pair Met At The 2024 CMT Music Awards

The pair first met while Lily Pearl Black was serving as a red carpet correspondent at the 2024 CMT Music Awards in Austin, Texas. At the event, Lily Pearl asked Riley Green about a tweet he made in December of 2022, where he praised country music icon Clint Black and gushed about the iconic country duet, recorded by Lily Pearl’s famous mom and dad, which he declared as one of the best country love songs in history.

“This just in… Clint Black is a badass and ‘when I said I do’ is one of the best country love songs ever,” Green wrote on Twitter, now known as X, at the time.

When Lily Pearl questioned him about the social media post, Green admitted that he can still remember exactly what was going through his mind when he made that tweet and that his comment still remains true today.

“That’s one of the greatest loves songs and when his wife comes out on stage, it just gets me,” Green explained before he named Clint Black as his dream duet partner.
