Speaking with Deadline back in August, McEntire shared more information about her and Linn’s latest venture, including their experience with filming the series.
“We’re having a blast,” McEntire told the outlet. “We’re still in the middle of shooting. We were on set last night [August 11] and there was a full moon. I think we broke around 12:54 a.m. Mountain time. “It was a long night but so beautiful. We are really loving it,” she said.
McEntire’s boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, expressed a similar sentiment.
“Wait until you see her in this!,” he gushed, explaining that McEntire plays a villain in the series.
The series, which is based on a book series by C.J. Box, “follows private detective Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and her former partner, Undersheriff Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), as they investigate local crimes, taking on drug syndicates, notorious kidnappers, crime dynasties and more along the way,” the outlet indicated. McEntire and Linn will appear in a season three episode where a trip led by McEntire’s character Sunny “goes awry,” also according to the outlet.
Ahead of the episode, McEntire and Linn posed for a promotional photo that was posted by the series’ official Facebook page. In the photo, Linn can be seen wearing a plaid shirt, jeans, a dark vest and a matching hat, while McEntire sports a denim shirt and dark jeans.
McEntire and Linn also appear in a new trailer for the series, which features Patsy Cline’s voice, singing “Happy Trails.”
Big Sky is not the first time McEntire and Linn have teamed up on an acting project. The pair co-starred in a new Lifetime movie called The Hammer, which is slated for release in 2023. McEntire plays the role of “outspoken firecracker lawyer” Kim Wheeler who is appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada. Meanwhile, Linn portrays Bart Crawford, “a mysterious cowboy with unknown motives.”
Besides working alongside Linn on Big Sky and The Hammer, McEntire shared that she’d love to have Linn appear on a reboot of her popular show, Reba.
“We can write something in for him. [How about making him] the gardener?” McEntire said in another conversation with Deadline.
Linn seemed to like the idea, telling the outlet, “I’m a good gardener. I can play the gardener who is always outside and out of focus while Reba’s talking—every episode.”
While McEntire irons out all the details of her Reba reboot, fans can watch her and Linn in Big Sky. The series’ third season premieres on Sept. 21 on ABC.
