The rap icon, who is for the most wins as a solo male in VMA history with Peter Gabriel, launched the show with an unforgettable performance that began with his current single, “Houdini.” Surrounded by look-alikes and an army of Slim Shady clones, Eminem delivered an impressive performance of The Death of Slim Shady track.
Following “Houdini,” Jelly Roll’s “Save Me” vocals flooded the venue speakers, and the 51-year-old rapper then went into a performance of “Somebody Save Me.”
“Somebody save me/ Me from myself/ I’ve spent so long (so long) livin’ in hell/ They say my lifestyle is bad for my health/ It’s the only thing that seems to help.”
Eminem was nominated for eight awards, including Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, Song Of The Summer, VMAs Most Iconic Performance and more.
