RaeLynn is passionate about her home life as a wife to her husband, Joshua Davis, and as a proud mom to 21-month-old daughter Daisy Rae. So much so that she almost considered dropping her music career altogether to stay home and be the best mother and wife she could be.

The 29-year-old Texas native and The Voice alum recently caught up with good friend Savannah Chrisley, 25, on the Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast to discuss various topics, including the two’s friendship, RaeLynn’s musical journey and bond with Blake Shelton on The Voice, writing sessions, her marriage of eight years and more.

During the sit-down conversation, she also admitted that she found she was most in her element as a new momma post-pregnancy.

“After I had Daisy, I was in infant land. You remember coming to see me,” RaeLynn told Chrisley, recalling the inevitable changes in her life after welcoming her first child, a baby girl, in September of 2021. “I had my compression socks on [and] I was just like, ‘I’m nursing.’ …was loving life.”

“I never want to go into music again [and] I just want to be a mom, I want to live on a farm …which I still want to do,” she added of her thought process, at the time. “But anyways, I want to have all these babies. I want to get knocked up all the time, I just loved being a mom, I was like, am I even going to want to go back to music? …don’t know if I want to do this.”

Her Husband Told Her She Would Regret Quitting Music

Even though RaeLynn felt she was at a crossroads in her professional life, she says it was Davis that reminded her how much she loved music and how much she would regret her decisions had she chosen to walk away from it.

“Josh was like, ‘No, that’s what you’re called to do. Right now you’re in this moment but give it time,’” she recalls her conversation with her husband.

And, it turns out Davis was right as RaeLynn saw how special her role as a mother was even more now that she could show Daisy a world where following a passion and dream is important.

“I went on the road … a few months later … and watching Daisy watch me from side-stage, Josh is holding her, she has her little headphones on … so her ears were protected, and she’s watching me, and I’m like, ‘This is going to instill in Daisy that you can literally have a family, and you can do what you love. You can be a strong woman and still be a mother,’” RaeLynn shared.

Baytown

Since welcoming Daisy, RaeLynn has dropped several songs, including her full-length album, Baytown, dedicated to her hometown. Produced by Corey Crowder, RaeLynn co-wrote all 14 songs on the project.

More recently, RaeLynn has released two tracks from her upcoming album, Funny Girl. They include “What’s Wrong With That” and “Broken One,” which serve as part II to “Triangle” from her Wildhorse album.

“The idea behind this song stemmed from thinking about life after being raised in a divorced home,” RaeLynn shared of “Broken One” in a statement. “What happens after the ‘Love Triangle’? That’s ‘Broken One’– finding a love that can break a cycle. I truly believe that God can fix, heal and restore [and] I have so many friends that grew up like me and found an everlasting love… I love the realness of this song [and] I teased it in December ’22, and fans shared it over and over– I knew we had something special.”

Funny Girl is due out in August of 2023.
