Priscilla Block takes breaking up to a new level with her newly released catchy single “Yard Sale.” Out today, (March 20), via Mercury Nashville, the infectious track follows the singer/songwriter’s debut studio project, Welcome to the Block Party and PB2 EP, and comes ahead of the upcoming release of her sophomore album.
Priscilla Block Opens Up About New Song, “Yard Sale”
Written by Block alongside David Garcia, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Laura Veltz, “Yard Sale” finds the North Carolina native not only bidding farewell to an ex-boyfriend but also parting ways with everything he left behind, including a “Jon boat,” “fishing poles,” a “trucker hat,” and more. Relishing her newfound freedom, Block doesn’t give the items back to her ex. She, instead, gathers all of her girlfriends, sets out some lawn chairs and a cooler full of beer, and lets folks lay claim to his personal stuff in exchange for some cash.
“I’m having me a yard sale, ten to five / Follow all the yellow signs / Everything is half price, get you something nice / I’m talking jon boat, fishing poles, deer mounts, and Mossy Oak / Sorry baby, those Lucchese’s gotta go / I’m having me a yard sale / I’m having me a yard sale, yard sale,” Block brazenly sings the fun and playful lyrics throughout the sing-along chorus.
Opening up about her latest track with Music Mayhem, Block said she had a blast writing the tune with her collaborators. But, what may come as a surprise is she didn’t anticipate releasing the song — that is, until everyone around her gave her the green light to do so.
“‘Yard Sale’ is honestly a song that I never thought I was going to release when we wrote it,” Block shared. “…I was like, I love this song, it’s fun, but I just don’t know if it’s too out there. But my band was like, Priscilla, you have to put out ‘Yard Sale.’ I felt like I would play songs for people, like demos and stuff, and I’d always throw ‘Yard Sale’ in there to get people’s response. And every time I’ve shown the song to people, they’re like, ‘You have to release that song.’”
Before dropping “Yard Sale,” however, Block said she teased the track on TikTok and included the lyrics “so people could read them. And it totally raised its hand. Over 10,000 people have used this song, and it’s not even out.”
Block Says A Jon Boat Best Describes Her Personality
But out of everything that can be found at a yard sale, what item best describes Block’s personality, the most?
“Oh, my goodness. Wow. If I could compare myself to a yard sale item, probably a boat, a dusty Jon boat, I feel like that is me,” she says, reasoning, “The motor’s still running. Just throw some decent oil. I’ll keep going. You can collect junk there. I’ve collected a lot of junk, but it’s also a good time, like good vibes.”
A self-proclaimed “yard sale queen,” Block says she no longer has time to rummage around for random items but adds, “I used to do a lot more yard sale shopping…I love a good deal. I love a good thrift store. I mean, I can negotiate pretty well as far as yard sale stuff items go. I’ve found couches, nightstands, and a full set of plates for my kitchen. I love decanters, so I love finding decanters at yard sales. I mean anything. That’s a good deal. Some vintage camo, 10 out of 10.”

Talks Of Fans Embracing Her Music As A Lifestyle
Block’s style, of course, goes far beyond the vintage camo. And people who have come in droves to see her perform in concert can attest to that. In fact, her fashion sense has made it from the stage to the crowds, with fans supporting her country-glam aesthetic by copying her look from the safety vests down to the top-knot hair and hoop earrings.
“It’s so crazy seeing people connect with the music. I mean, and just the lifestyle stuff, but I think it’s awesome,” Block shared. “[and] I think about being a fan of the artists I was when I grew up — Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift. When you can take an artist and wrap yourself into their world, and you see things, and you think of them, and you see colors and all of that. I love doing that, being a fan of other artists. And it’s cool that the fans recreate the looks. I mean, the safety vests out the freaking wazoo at my concerts, and it’s just because I wore a safety vest one day. It’s awesome.”

Vulnerable Tracks Coming On Her Sophomore Album
“Copy Paste”
Block certainly knows how to make a statement in more ways than one, and while fashion is one way she does that, she also keeps it real through song lyrics, tackling subjects about everything from body image to beauty standards to fake social media posts. The country artist took to TikTok to tease an unreleased song called “Copy Paste,” which shares the message that it’s okay to take a break and set down the phone to enjoy real-life moments.
“I’m in a place right now where I’m truly working on myself — mind, body, and soul. And being in the thick of that, I’ve started realizing how much of my life is wasted trying to get to the next level. I miss the moments…. We all, I’m sure, struggle with not feeling good enough…. And people think that I’m just this confident girl, and I am. And that is true. But even me, I can spend a lot of time comparing myself to maybe other artists or wondering why I am not maybe to where I want to be,” Block explained.
She continued, “I think this song is important with how massive social media is right now. It’s like, sometimes you just have to be like, ‘I have to put this thing down. Am I wasting my own reality, caught on to what other people are doing?’ So that’s what ‘Copy Paste’ is, and the whole line, it’s like we trade our own lives for second hand emotions. It’s like seeing what other people are doing or seeing people’s happiness. So sometimes you have to break up with that relationship on your phone and be like, half of the s**it is fake.”
“I Couldn’t Care Less”
Amplifying her serious side, Block also teased a track called “I Couldn’t Care Less” — a song that finds her promising that moments she missed out on mean more to her than what she lets on. Block treated listeners to a performance of the song in mid-February during the Country Now Live at 6th & Peabody, an event that raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“I’ve been through some hard times over the past couple years that people haven’t seen because I’m an artist, and the show goes on,” Block shared while opening up about the unreleased song she co-wrote alongside Cole Taylor, Trannie Anderson, and Alex Maxwell. “So it was important for me to write that not only for the fans but for myself to be real. There’s a part of me that still feels a little bit misunderstood, and that’s what ‘I Couldn’t Care Less’ is. It’s my letter to people who maybe don’t get me or maybe judge what I’m doing or maybe think because I have a big personality that I’m just the girl who doesn’t care, and it’s like I’m the girl who cares way more than people know.”
Shines A Light On Her Love Life With “He’s My Man”
Elsewhere, Block lets fans step into her love life with tracks like “He’s My Man” and “Didn’t Like Love.” While folks have gotten to hear “He’s My Man,” “Didn’t Like Love” has only been teased online. However, both tracks speak to Block’s relationship, which she has mostly kept out of the spotlight as she has been known to keep her romance out of the public eye to protect the identity of her boyfriend.
“I think everyone was like, ‘Whoa. Well, she doesn’t only put out crazy breakup songs.’ I’m like, ‘I know. It’s crazy,’” Block said of how fans have reacted to the new side of her music. “It’s been fun showing that side because my love life is something I protect, and it’s been my home for years….This has been the one thing that I’ve been like, ‘The world doesn’t have to know everything about this’ or ‘I don’t have to share that.’ But it’s cool being able to put out the love song, so people know I’m in love and people can see it, but it’s fun sharing it through music and letting people get a glimpse into my love life and who he is by that song.”
“‘He’s My Man’ is everything that I feel like I have right now,” she adds. “He’s like a man, a few words. And even as the bridge says, ‘he ain’t the kind of guy to talk about himself at all, but if you ask me, I could go on and on and on,’ and that’s who he is. And so it’s been fun, really, really fun. It’s funny, he’ll come out to the shows, and the fans will see his hair, and they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is him.’ And we were out not long ago, and I was like, ‘How was the show?’ And he was like, ‘Priscilla, I swear to you, I took 15 pictures with people.’ I was like, ‘You go, honey!’”
Her Next Album Will Be More Mature And Include More Storytelling
Block didn’t indicate when her next album will drop, but judging by the songs she has shared thus far, the project is bound to be a massive success and take her career to new heights. Sharing how the forthcoming project differs from her previous full-length album, Welcome to the Block Party, the powerhouse says the album finds her evolving through a lot of the real-life experiences she had since her debut record.
“I’ve experienced a lot in the past four years, a lot of good, a lot of bad. And so I think there’s just a lot more storytelling in this record,” she said. “I think the biggest difference is the age. I mean, I was young when I wrote Welcome to the Block Party, and I’m still young, but I was just in a different phase of life … But there are still some similarities. Y’all are not going to lose the personality and the fun songs.”
She concluded, “Obviously, love is a big part of my life right now, so you’ll hear some of that. But I think this record is my time to show people a different side maybe that they haven’t seen. Just shift the focus a little bit. I think with Welcome to the Block Party, it is the party thing. It’s the fun party songs and all of that. And that’s still so much a part of me, but I think this record is like, I want people to be like, ‘Wow, I feel like I know Priscilla inside and out through this record.’”
