After hitting No. 1 on Country radio earlier this month, Morgan Wallen’s “Wasted On You” impacted pop radio just a few days ago on July 19 and the tune has already allowed Wallen to achieve a new milestone.
The country hitmaker earned his first-ever solo career entry on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart with “Wasted On You” as it debuted at No. 40 on the chart dated July 30, 2022.
Wallen also achieved his second solo entry on Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay chart, where the tune debuted at No. 32.
“Wasted On You” was co-written by Wallen alongside Ryan Vojtesak, Ernest K. Smith (ERNEST), and Josh Thompson. The track finds the East Tennessee native crooning over the downfall of a relationship while reflecting on everything he’s “wasted” on his ex. He also admits to turning to a bottle of bourbon to help ease the pain.
The songwriters found a clever way to use the term wasted in multiple ways as Wallen admits he’s wasted time, money and miles on his past lover, while also getting wasted to drown out the memories.
“All of this time and all of this money / All of the these sorries I don’t owe you honey / All of these miles on this Chevy, and prayers in a pew / All them days I spent, wasted on you / Wasted on you,” he sings on the chorus.
Wallen first debuted “Wasted On You” in January 2021 as part of The Dangerous Sessions, an acoustic series leading up to the much-anticipated release of his album.
The song is the second track on Wallen’s record-breaking sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album.
The track became an immediate fan favorite and on November 23, 2021, less than 12 months after its initial release, the song was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA for certified units (sales and stream equivalents) of 2 million.

“Wasted On You” follows Wallen’s fifth chart-topping hit, “Sand In My Boots,” which went No. 1 in late February 2022.
“Wasted On You” isn’t Wallen’s first song that charted on pop radio. The East Tennessee native previously charted at pop radio as part of Diplo’s “Heartless” collaboration, which peaked at No. 22. “7 Summers” also received support at pop radio, but didn’t make the Top 40, despite having exceptional streams and sales figures.

“You Proof” Is Most-Added At Country Radio With 52 Adds
While Wallen currently sits in the Top 40 at pop radio with “Wasted On You,” his new single “You Proof” impacted country radio on Monday (July 25) and quickly became the most-added song with 52 adds and a total of 94 historic adds.
The country hitmaker shared “You Proof” on May 13, which also happened to be his 29th birthday. He first debuted the song in the Summer of 2021 as a work tape on Instagram. The song quickly became a fan-favorite tune and amassed over 1.8 million streams in just days following
Co-written by Wallen alongside Ashley Gorley, Ernest K. Smith (ERNEST) and Charlie Handsome, “You Proof” finds Wallen singing about drinking away the memory of a previous lover.
“Ain’t nobody sellin’ nothing you proof / something stronger than I’m used to / I’ve been pouring 90-100 feelin’ like nothing’s gonna cut it that’s the hard truth / I need something you proof / I need something you proof,” Wallen sings in the chorus.
