Just a few weeks before welcoming his first child, Luke Combs shared whether or not he’ll take his newborn son, Tex Lawrence, out on the road with him while co-hosting an episode of Country Countdown USA.
Combs spoke with Lon Helton, telling him, he wants to make sure he’s got a good handle on parenting before bringing his son out on tour with him.
“I think you need at least a year before the road thing,” Combs told Helton. “We don’t even take our dog on the road because we feel it affects his quality of life. We want to be sure we have this parenting thing down before we take it on the road. I don’t want [my wife] Nicole to feel trapped on the bus with the baby. We’re going to give it some time,” he explained.
“Welp he decided that Father’s Day would be a good time to show up. I couldn’t agree more,” Combs wrote, announcing the birth of his son. “Me and @nicolejcombs are over the moon in love with this little guy. Mama and baby are healthy and we’re back home now with family. Life is good. Everyone welcome Tex Lawrence Combs to the world!,” he added, including a photo of he and wife Nicole with their son in his nursery.
Combs and his wife received congratulations from a variety of fellow country artists including RaeLynn, Chris Lane, Cole Swindell, Cody Jinks, and Jordan Davis, among others.
The couple revealed that they were expecting a son back in late January, sharing photos of themselves holding a sonogram to social media.
“[I] couldn’t be more excited to start a family with this babe,” Combs said upon sharing he and wife Nicole’s pregnancy announcement. “It’s gonna be a hell of a ride,” he continued.
In addition to welcoming his son into the world, Combs also released his third studio album, Growin’ Up on June 24. The album debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, previously de-throning the record held by Morgan Wallen with his sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album.
