Luke Combs revealed that he and his wife, Nicole Hocking Combs, are in a race against time when it comes to naming their second child.

On Thursday (Aug. 3), the country hitmaker sat down with Mike Adam for Audacy’s Check In series and opened up about upcoming arrival of his second child, a baby boy who is expected to be brought into the world very soon. “It’s going to be wild,” Combs admitted of becoming a father of two.

“It’s actually kind of getting down to the wire here because I’m going to tour in Australia here in about a week. So going to be cutting it close with the due date on getting home,” Combs shared.

What Is Luke Combs And Nicole Naming Their Second Child?

As the Combs household eagerly anticipates the upcoming arrival of their second son, the North Carolina native admitted that he and his wife still don’t know what they are naming their second child. “We have to pick out a name in the next couple of days in case the baby were to come while I’m gone. So yeah, so we got to figure it out soon,” Combs revealed.

When it comes to picking out a name, Combs didn’t share much, but he did explain that he wants the name to be inspired by family and not just a random name.

“We’ve tooled around with both. We’re going to lean more towards a family name, but open to anything too,” the country crooner continued.

Expecting Baby Boy No. 2

The beloved couple announced that they were expecting baby No. 2 in a joint Instagram post earlier this year in March.

At the time, the couple took to Instagram to share the exciting news with fans via a slideshow of sweet family photos that feature their 9-month-old son, Tex Lawrence, sporting a “big brother” onesie.

“Joining the 2 under 2 club! Baby boy #2 coming this September,” Luke and Nicole shared at the time.

The announcement clip was soundtracked by Combs’ new song, “Take You With Me.” The sentimental track was co-written by Combs and his frequent collaborators James McNair and Rob Williford. “Take You With Me” finds the proud father crooning over his son and singing about cherishing the time he gets to spend with Tex.

“Got a youngin’ of my own / he’s too young to understand it / when he gets a little older / watching the stage where I’m standin’ / he’ll know it’s about him / when he hears me sing I’ll take you with me / if it was up to me, we’d do everything together / and when they’re young like that / those days they don’t last forever / so every chance I get you best believe I’ll take you with me,” Combs sings.

First Child: Tex Lawrence

Luke and Nicole, who recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary, first became parents on June 19, 2022, when they welcomed a son, Tex Lawrence. They shared the news with fans on social media alongside a loving family photo.

“Welp he decided that Father’s Day would be a good time to show up. I couldn’t agree more. Me and @nicolejcombs are over the moon in love with this little guy,” he wrote at the time. “Mama and baby are healthy and we’re back home now with family. Life is good. Everyone welcome Tex Lawrence Combs to the world!”

How Did Luke Combs Meet His Wife Nicole Hocking Combs?

Nicole has been by Luke’s side long before he became a country music sensation. The couple met during the 2016 Key West Songwriters Festival in Florida. At the time, Nicole was working at BMI, who served as the host of the event, and Combs was a performer.

“I didn’t have anything going on when we met,” Luke explained during an appearance on the podcast Couple Things with Shawn Johnson and Andrew East. “I didn’t have a record deal or a publishing deal or anything.”

Nicole says she made the first move.

“I was leaving a songwriters round and he was walking up late to it and I was just like, ‘hey, come hang out with us, why are you by yourself?,” she recalled.

Thinking back to that night, Luke laughed and admitted, “Yeah, I looked bad too… I was wearing camo gym shorts from Walmart… classy, classy stuff. And like the oldest t-shirt that I owned, probably.”

“Forever After All”

The couple began dating soon after and officially tied the knot on August 1, 2020. They shared footage from their wedding day in Luke Combs’ music video for his chart-topping hit, “Forever After All.”

Nicole has inspired several songs in Luke’s catalog, including “Beautiful Crazy,” “Better Together,” “Forever After All” and more recently “Love You Anyway,” a track that appears on his latest album, Gettin’ Old.

New Album, Gettin’ Old

Gettin’ Old, which arrived on March 24, 2023, features 18 tracks, including “Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old,” “See Me Now,” “Joe,” “Tattoo On A Sunburn,” “5 Leaf Clover,” as well as his chart-topping cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” and more.

“This album is about the stage of life I’m in right now. One that I’m sure a lot of us are in, have been through, or will go through,” Combs previously explained on social media. He continued, “It’s about coming of age, loving where life is now but at the same time missing how it used to be, continuing to fall for the one you love and loving them no matter what, living in the moment but still wondering how much time you have left, family, friends, being thankful, and leaving a legacy. Me and so many others have poured their hearts and souls into this record and I hope you love it as much as we do.”
