Lainey Wilson and Devlin “Duck” Hodges announced their engagement just about one year ago, and Wilson is sharing a few more details about the pair’s upcoming wedding plans.

Chatting with PEOPLE at the Grammys on February 1, Wilson explained that no matter what she’s got going on at her wedding, what matters the most is celebrating her and Hodges’ relationship alongside their closest friends and family members. “Well, first of all, I just want it to be about what it’s supposed to be about,” the country star shared. “I want my family to be there, like my closest family, like my mama and daddy, sister, and her kids. I want good music, [and] good food.”

As for what kind of food that might be, the Louisiana native mused that her home state’s cuisine will likely make an appearance, as will some of Hodges’ favorites. “Well, I’m from Louisiana, so maybe a little bit of, like, a Cajun flair. My fiancé likes a good steak,” she said. “So it might just be a mixture.”

After a busy year professionally, Wilson kicked her wedding planning up a notch over the holidays. “I’m starting to think about it more now, because honestly, like, with the tour and everything last year, and also, with the holidays this year,” she said during a recent No. 1 party celebrating her song “Somewhere Over Laredo.”

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year noted that she even found some time to utilize social media for her planning, saying, “Now I kinda feel like this is my holiday downtime, and so, I’m spending a little time on Pinterest; I’m making [myself] a little board.”

Though she may have gotten started looking for inspiration, Wilson joked that her minimal planning had her fiancé worried. “I’ve got a lot to do, I will tell you that. Duck’s like, ‘Are we really getting married?’ I’m like, ‘We are.’ I said, ‘I do, I done, I did, we’re doing it.’ But it’s going good,” she said, adding, “It’s gonna happen, but we don’t have all the details yet.”

Shortly after she announced her engagement, Wilson appeared on The Kelleigh Bannen Show and shared some initial thoughts on her wedding ensemble, noting that she’ll be wearing a dress despite her famous penchant for bell bottoms.

“I’m going to wear a dress,” she revealed. “I hadn’t done the whole dress shopping. We haven’t even picked a date or anything like that. We got some time, but I figured, you know what? I hadn’t worn a dress for him yet, and I guess that would be the day to do it.”

She also shared some words of appreciation for Hodges, whom she began dating in 2021. The couple kept their relationship private for two years before going public, eventually announcing their engagement in February 2025.

“He is a brave man. First of all, anybody who is okay with this lifestyle and being in the business so much and being gone all the time, he was plucked from the sky for me,” Wilson said of her fiancé before joking, “Don’t tell him I said that… We got to keep him humble.”

Wilson and Hodges are still in the midst of planning their wedding, and while a date has not yet been revealed, the couple is expected to tie the knot sometime in 2026.
