Luke Combs has been forced to abruptly cancel his scheduled headlining performance at the EA Sports Madden Bowl as he prepares to welcome his third child with his wife, Nicole Combs, who is due any day now.

The country superstar broke the news to fans via his Instagram Stories on Thursday morning (Feb. 5), issuing a statement explaining why he had to pull out of the highly anticipated Super Bowl LX event. “So sorry to miss y’all at Madden Bowl, but family always comes first. Have a great time,” Combs shared.

Event producers also addressed the last-minute change via a statement on their social media platforms. “Luke has to hold it down at home with a new one on the way. All love for Luke and his family—and we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable Madden Bowl with Zach Bryan leading an incredible night of music and football for the fans.”

In a clip previously shared to Combs’ social media in late January, the 35-year-old country superstar shared that he and his wife “got a baby on the way, pretty much any day now.”

Luke Combs was thrilled to be part of the event, as he has been a longtime fan of football and Madden since childhood. While he’s disappointed he can’t perform, he’s prioritizing being present for the birth of his third child.

“Panthers football has been a staple in my life since I was a kid, so playing Madden has been something I’ve always done – still do to this day on tour,” Combs previously shared at the time of the event’s announcement. “Getting the invite from EA SPORTS to be a part of the Madden Bowl at the biggest football game in the world – the Super Bowl, was a no-brainer. I can’t wait, and I’m still holding out hope my Panthers will be there too.”

Combs and Nicole first announced they were expecting baby No. 3 back in September in a heartwarming video set to the country singer’s sentimental track “Days Like These.” Tex and Beau appeared to respond to the news with pure joy, throwing their hands in the air as the caption reads, “Third time’s a charm! ✨ Baby #3 coming this winter 🤍.”

Tex, born in June 2022, made the Combs couple first-time parents, followed by Beau in August 2023.

EA Sports Presents Madden Bowl in Partnership with Visa will now feature performances from Zach Bryan, Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson Jr., Gavin Adcock, and LARUSSELL. The event will take place during Super Bowl LX weekend at Chase Center in San Francisco on February 6, 2026.

“With Super Bowl LX in the backyard of our global headquarters, this year truly feels like a home game for us,” said John Reseburg, VP of Marketing, Partnerships & Communications for EA SPORTS. “This will be our biggest presence ever, and EA SPORTS Presents Madden Bowl is at the center of it, a celebration of the fans, athletes, creators, and music shaping the culture of football. We’re going to bring an incredible show to the Bay, and share that energy with football fans everywhere.”

Beginning at 7:00 PM PST on EA SPORTS social channels, fans can watch A-list celebrity and athlete arrivals, exclusive behind-the-scenes moments from the Madden Bowl Blue Carpet, livestream competitions, and additional content from creators and athletes throughout Super Bowl LX events.
