Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo are coming up on their 10th wedding anniversary, and it’s no secret that their partnership is a strong one. Speaking to Us Weekly at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala over the weekend, the couple shared a few keys to their marriage, one of them being communication.

“The secret to success is, one, not taking anything too serious [and] having conversation,” Jelly Roll explained. “What happens in that bedroom matters a lot. Those private conversations—and that other stuff.” Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo met at one of Jelly Roll’s shows in Las Vegas in 2015, and Jelly Roll proposed on stage in Las Vegas one year later. The two married in a courthouse wedding that night and renewed their vows at the same chapel in 2023.

Now with two successful careers, the busy pair makes sure to make time for their date nights. “It’s always date night,” the 41-year-old Tennessee native shared. “You’d be surprised, when it’s really date night time, we’re super simple. We live on the farm, sneak into a movie or something.” His wife added that the pair is just as happy with a casual evening, telling the outlet, “We love Sweetgreen and getting fried chicken fingers. Our excuse to not get dressed up.”

Jelly Roll also noted that he and Bunnie Xo have both separately deepened their relationships with God, which has in turn brought the two of them closer to each other. “I’m probably the most proud of the last year [that] my relationship with God [is] getting closer. Getting closer with my wife, she’s had her own relationship with God. It’s even closer, so that’s what we’re with. That’s the theme of 2026.”

The 41-year-old echoed that sentiment during his acceptance speech at the Grammys on Sunday night, which he gave after he won Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken.

“First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I’m listening. Lord, I am listening. Lord. Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife,” he said. “I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”

Jelly Roll continued by referencing his time in prison and how his faith changed his life.

“There was a moment in my life that all I had was a Bible this big, and a radio the same size, and a six-by-eight-foot cell. And I believe that those two things could change my life. I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life. And I want to tell y’all right now Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no music label. Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with Him. I love you, Lord.”

Along with his Grammy for Best Contemporary Country Album, Jelly Roll took home two additional trophies on Sunday night—winning Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for his Brandon Lake duet, “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Amen” with Shaboozey.
