After more than a decade and the release of five studio albums, Kip Moore has parted ways with his longtime record label, MCA Records.

Kip Moore Reveals He Has Parted Ways With His Longtime Record Label

The country superstar took to social media over the weekend and revealed the news with fans that he has departed from the record label that launched his career. In the lengthy social media post, Moore showcased gratitude for his now former team at MCA Records.

“I’ve been extremely grateful for the opportunity to make records on a label like MCA over the last 10 plus years. They’ve been such a top-notch team and I’ve been so lucky to have had the freedom through the years to do it my way,” the Georgia native, whose real name is Kipling Christian Moore, wrote.

Kip Moore also thanked individual members and called out specific groups of his team that assisted in helping him grow. “Promo team… I can’t say enough about the rock stars each one of you are. You work tirelessly and you don’t get thanked enough. I almost stayed cause of that bond alone,” he continued. “Luke, Mike, Cindy…thank you for everything. Forever grateful. Brian & good hair Joe, thank you. All the staff behind the scenes…digital, marketing, video, Sarah (Obama)…. I appreciate all you do and did.”

Prepares To Release His First-Ever Independent Project

He then went on to admit that he is unsure what the future holds, but for the first time ever, he is releasing his sixth studio album independently. The social media post included photos of Moore playing guitar in a recording studio, as well as a snapshot of an empty studio filled with instruments.

“I’m not sure where I’ll end up (currently having those discussions), but in the meantime, doing a record completely independent for the first time in my career has been something can’t put into words,” he added. Moore boosted the anticipation for the project, by telling fans, “Get fucking ready, slowhearts…#6 is coming.”

Country Music Community Reacts

Several of his fellow country stars applauded his decision to release an independent album, including Craig Campbell, Charles Esten, Drake White, Kristian Bush of Sugarland, Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three, and more.

“Independent is the only way!” Campbell commented, while Esten added, “You are something special, brother. Live and respect how you do what you do. Here’s to the next great thing!!!👊🏻✨”

“Game on,” Bush wrote, and White chimed in saying, “Let’s go!” Meanwhile, Johnston let him know that he got emotional reading his post, “Joker got a joker tearing up over here. 🥹. 🤘”

Kip Moore Released Five Albums On MCA Records

During his time with MCA Records, the 43-year-old singer/songwriter released five studio albums, including his debut effort Up All Night (2012) as well as Wild Ones (2015), Slowheart (2017), Wild World (2019) and his latest project, Damn Love (2023).

Moore released his new album, Damn Love, in April of 2023 via MCA Records. The 13-track project, co-produced by Moore alongside Jaren Johnston (The Cadillac Three), features the lead single, “Damn Love,” as well as fan-favorites such as “Kinda Bar,” “Heart On Fire,” “Silver And Gold,” “Sometimes She Stays” and more. Moore wrote 12 of the 13 songs on the project, with the only outside cut being the title track.

The “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” singer exploded onto the mainstream country music scene in 2012, captivating audiences with his raw vocals and authentic storytelling. Since then, Moore describes the progression from his first album to this fifth album as a journey of “self realization.” With this record, Moore told Music Mayhem that he continues to figure out where he fits in. “I’ve always felt like I’ve been a little bit on the outside edges and a little bit of an outsider, sometimes misunderstood.” He hears things said about him that don’t match his true identity. “Just because I might be a little more quiet as an artist and not walk in like, ‘here I am!’ and people take it as I’m being whatever.”
