Even at almost 40 years old, Katy Perry still knows how to rock a red carpet. Tonight at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Perry stepped out on the red carpet at UBS Arena in a shredded white bralette with a shredded white skirt to match, looking stunning as can be as she prepares to accept the biggest award of the night: the coveted Video Vanguard Award.

To accompany the look — which some are describing as a chic mummy — Katy looked wet and wild, covered head to toe in body oil, with her hair seemingly soaked in hair gel. Her silver eyeshadow and manicure tied the whole look together, while her nude matte lip added a bit of contrast to the glam.

As a cheeky Easter egg, Perry also had a temporary QR code tattoo right above her backside, which cleverly leads to a site for her new album, 143.

Her best accessory was undoubtedly her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, though, getting all lovey-dovey and kissing in front of photographers.

Katy Perry wins Most Iconic Performance for “Roar” at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards

While on the red carpet, Perry took home her first “Moon Person” of the evening, winning the award for Most Iconic Performance for “Roar,” which took place over the Brooklyn Bridge at the 2013 VMAs.

“Thanks, KatyCats. I love you so much. I do it all for you, and for Daisy,” the “I Kissed a Girl” singer gushed during her red carpet interview while holding back tears, thanking both her fans and her daughter for this award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

Katy Perry to accept Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards

This is not Perry’s only award of the evening, as she is already set to take home the coveted Video Vanguard Award, performing a medley of her biggest hits to celebrate.

For those who are unfamiliar, the Video Vanguard Award — also known as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award or the Lifetime Achievement Award — is given to artists who have made “outstanding contributions” and “a profound impact” on music videos and popular culture. Receiving the award at the 2024 VMAs, Perry will join other winners like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, Janet Jackson, LL COOL J, The Beatles and more in this accolade.

Also in her red carpet interview, the “Firework” singer revealed what it is like receiving such a prestigious recognition: “It’s incredible, because that means I have had fans for a lifetime, and my fans are showing up for me like never before, and it’s incredible to see that.

She then proceeded to tease her performance, still to come this evening: “I started on the MTV Awards with like 20 seconds, and now I’m going to have over 10 minutes. Life is really happening. Be present in every single day because it does happen, and it feels like a blink.”

“It’s going to be very fun I will be flying, sliding, there will be drones,” she added about her performance, and viewers already cannot contain their excitement.
