Boys & Girls Club in Cleveland, Ohio recently celebrated the grand opening of their brand-new basketball court, and got a special surprise visit from Kane Brown

In fall of 2021, Brown made a generous donation towards a major renovation for the organization’s gymnasium located on Broadway Avenue. Now, the members have a bright, shiny new space that by the photos shared, they have already started to enjoy.

Brown made the trip to Ohio to see the finished product for himself, which includes a new scoreboard, bleachers, and audio and electrical work. The Boys & Girls Club even added an autographed section from the country singer to the updated floors, as a way to honor his contribution.

“This gym has not had a major renovation in a number of years,” the Chief Programs Officer Allen Smith told WKYC.com.

“This is super exciting for us to be able to have this and we’re just very grateful to him and his team,” Smith added. “It’ll really make this a first-class facility that people can use for various events and purposes.”

Brown hopes that this newly renovated space will keep kids away from the screens and instead stay more active on the courts. After his visit to the Ohio club on Saturday (Feb. 19), the organization shared a series of images showcasing Brown surrounded by the kids in the new gym and standing by his initials on the new floor. Brown also shared the heartwarming photos on his social media page, writing “This is what it’s all about. ❤️”

“A beautiful moment, as we would like to thank Kane Brown for his donation of a new gymnasium to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio/Cleveland ahead of the @NBA’s All-Star Weekend! #greatfutures #allstarweekend,” the caption read.

The “One Mississippi” singer has been a long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America because he can connect with the work they do from experiences he had in his own childhood.

“Growing up, I had always wanted a place to go. I never had a place to go after school. I just had sports. So I played sports. That was the only thing to help me out,” Brown explained while presenting the club with his donation, before heading out to a show at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, according to WKYC.com.

Brown continued, “There’s no telling where I would have been, staying out of trouble if I didn’t have sports. I love basketball, and we get to give these kids a new gym today, and I think it’s amazing. I hope they love it.”

Brown also shared photos from of the gymnasium to his social media, which he captioned, “This is what it’s all about. ❤️
