Jason Aldean wrapped up 2021 with the release of Macon, the first part of his 30-track double album Macon, Georgia. The album features “If I Didn’t Love You,” his popular duet with Country music superstar Carrie Underwood.
In a recent interview with Evan Paul of Taste Of Country Nights, Aldean revealed a few other powerhouse female artists who he would like to collaborate with one day if he gets the chance.
When asked which female artist is on his mind for a future duet, Aldean responded, “Well, Adele man, I think Adele is pretty sick, I mean, she’s another level, you know.”
“I’ve been talking about doing something with her for… wanting to do something with her for years,” he continued. “Then I just saw where [Chris] Stapleton did something with her, which completely makes sense… Two of the best voices of our generation right now. But yeah, I’m a huge fan of hers, I love her style of it and what she does. So, she’s one that would be out of the country music genre right now…”
Adele and Stapleton recently recorded their duet, “Easy on Me,” which Adele released on her 30 album in October of last year, but this is not the first time these award-winning artists have worked together. Before she put out her 2011 recording of ‘If It Hadn’t Been For Love” on her 21 record, Stapleton and his band at the time, known as the SteelDrivers, were the first to record this track which they co-wrote. That being said, Adele has been a Stapleton fan for some time now.
Could Aldean be the next country artist that Adele chooses to collaborate with? In terms of this future project, which is currently just a thought on Aldean’s end, the question of “can we manifest this duet” remains.
“I don’t know man, I think for those things, the stars kind of have to align,” Aldean told Paul. “You have to have the right song, there’s a lot that kind of goes into that, so I would love to, but I’m sure people are knocking down her door to work with her. So, I don’t know where I stand on the totem pole.”
Last night, Adele made the difficult announcement to reschedule all the dates for her Weekends With Adele Las Vegas residency due to production delays. In tears the “Rolling in the Deep” artist apologized to fans saying she was “gutted.”
“I can’t give you what I have right now, and I’m gutted, I’m gutted, and I’m sorry it’s so last minute,” the powerhouse singer said in a heartbreaking clip on social media.
Her upcoming shows may be delayed, but that doesn’t mean a potential future collaboration with Aldean is out of the question.
On the other hand, Aldean also mentioned wanting to work with “I Hope” singer, Gabby Barrett, who is currently learning how to juggle being a new mom and keeping up with the music industry.
“Gabby Barrett’s another one in the country world. I think Gabby’s a phenomenal singer too,” Aldean added.
Last summer, Aldean headlined Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI with Barrett as a special guest, but the two artists have not yet come together to record music together.
Until these collaborations happen, fans will be waiting in anticipation for the full second half of Aldean’s Macon, Georgia record to be released.
