Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have a modern-day love story that all started when the singer/songwriter slid into the actress’ DM’s.
Most fans know Jonas as the youngest brother of the Jonas Brothers trio from New Jersey that consists of him, his brother Joe and his brother Kevin. Even before they formed a band of their own in 2005, Nick launched his career with a role on Broadway at the age of 10. Then at 13 years old, he dropped his self-titled solo debut.
He and his brothers eventually rose to fame with Disney, split in 2013 and got the band back together after a six-year hiatus. During their time apart, Nick spent his time building a career as a solo artist. Now, The Jonas Brothers are sharing the stage again and most recently, they wrapped up a Las Vegas residency. Fans are currently awaiting the release of their next project titled, The Album, along with several more shows on the horizon for 2023.
As for Chopra, she is an actress, best known in the US for her role as Alex Parrish on the ABC show “Quantico.” This show aired from 2015 to 2018 and marked the first time a South Asian actress got cast in a leading role of an American series. Before starring in this show and gaining popularity in the US, Chopra was a major star in her home, India.
Their Relationship Started When Nick Jonas DMed Priyanka On Social Media
Her resume also includes winning the Miss World crown, and appearing in movies such as Baywatch, Matrix, The Sky Is Pink, and many more. While she continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry, she is also known for her relationship with Nick Jonas that began in 2016.
“I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet,” Jonas wrote in the message he sent to Chopra through social media.
This simple pickup line turned into Chopra giving out her number to keep the conversation going in a more private matter.
“She responded day of with a message that said, ‘My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me,’” he recalled in an interview with Vogue.
Formed A Connections At The 2016 Vanity Fair Oscars Party
While this move may have sparked the romance, things really began to heat up when they formed a connection in person for the first time at the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscars party.
During the event, Jonas got down on one knee… No, he didn’t propose, but he did make a gesture big enough to get Chopra’s attention. He recalls hanging out at the bar when the actress caught his eye with her long black sequined Michael Kors Collection dress.
“And I put my drink down,” The Jonas Brothers member told Vogue. “Get on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud.”
Those months of texting must have paid off because Chopra was willing to stick around for a drink despite a car waiting outside to take her to a flight to India.
“I looked at Anj,” she said referring to her manager, Anjula Acharia, “And I said, ‘Five minutes.’”
Those extra five minutes turned into another drink before the 2017 Met Gala, which they also attended together. The romantic evening continued when she invited him up to her apartment. While some may argue it may have been a bit early to meet the parents, Jonas seemed to be on board with the fact that he was introduced to her mother, Madhu, that night.
Despite this milestone that they will always remember, there was another point in that Chopra can claim as the moment she knew this relationship was going to be different.
While on a date with Jonas in LA, she remembers him saying, “I love the way you look at the world. I love the drive you have.”
“As a girl, I’ve never had a guy tell me, ‘I like your ambition,’” the Quantico actress said in awe of the mature words. “It’s always been the opposite.”
From this moment on, the pair was seen out in public on a number of dates, including a visit to Beauty and the Beast Live at the Hollywood Bowl and a Dodgers game. Around this time, a source told Us Weekly, “It’s a good match and they are both interested in each other.”
The lovebirds showed no signs of slowing down. In fact, they took the next step in July of 2018 when Jonas popped the question while celebrating Chopra’s 35th birthday in London. According to a report by PEOPLE, a few weeks prior to the engagement, the “Jealous” singer shut down an entire Tiffany & Co. store in New York so that he could privately shop for the perfect ring.
