Nick Jonas just shared a very important update about the Jonas Brothers.
The 30-year-old singer and youngest member of the trio told Kelly Clarkson that the band’s new album is “done” during a Jan. 13 appearance on The Voice coach’s daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
While discussing a handful of upcoming shows at Park MGM as part of their Jonas Brothers: Live In Las Vegas Residency in February, Jonas said the band will be going on tour “later this year.”
Clarkson then asked Jonas if he plans on bringing his one-year-old daughter Malti, whom he shares with wife Priyanka Chopra, on the road.
“I’ll probably be hitting you up for advice on how we should structure it because I’ve never done it,” Jonas admitted. “[My brothers] Kevin and Joe have had kids on the road, but this will be our first venture with it. But I’m excited for all of it. This year’s gonna be very busy but very fun.”
Upon hearing that the Jonas Brothers would be going on tour later this year, Clarkson wondered if the band was also going to be releasing new music.
“So wait, do you guys have any new music coming out, asking for a friend, what? I love y’all,” she said.
“Yeah,” Jonas responded. “So the album is done [and] we’re very excited about it. We’re kind of in that planning moment, planning the campaign, the album, the single, like all the things,” he added.
Jonas previously teased new music on a May 25 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show telling Clarkson the band was “working on new music for sure” and that it was his “favorite stuff [they’d] ever done.”
In describing the new album’s sound, Jonas said it represented an “evolution of the sound that’s really natural for us.”
The last time the Jonas Brothers released a new album was their fifth studio LP, Happiness Begins, in 2019. The album included 14 tracks including the trio’s hit single, “Sucker.”
The band also shared the music from Happiness Begins with fans on the road as part of their tour of the same name. The tour, which was highlighted in their concert film, Happiness Continues, kicked off in August 2019 and concluded in February 2020.
In addition, the brothers re-released many of their hits such as “S.O.S,” “Year 3000,” “Lovebug,” and “Burnin’ Up” to accompany the film.
The trio then launched their follow-up Remember This Tour in 2021 after live music returned, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour, which featured Kelsea Ballerini as support, kicked off in Las Vegas at the Park Theater in August before wrapping up in December at the Hollywood Bowl.
More recently, the Jonas Brothers launched their Las Vegas residency, with two stints – one in June and one in November of 2022. Their 2023 round of the residency will feature three shows, taking place Feb. 17, 18, and 19.
“We couldn’t be more excited to start sharing everything we’re planning for 2023 and 3 more shows in Vegas is the perfect way to kick things off,” the trio wrote in a Dec. 13 Instagram post, including a 😏 emoji in their caption. “We’re back at Dolby Live at Park MGM this February!! Presale starts tomorrow at 10 AM PT. Grab your tickets and we will see you there!”
